The regular season for the Pinnacle Panthers baseball team ended last Friday against Bryce Valley, taking a loss 15-0. The Panthers now prepare themselves for the 1A State Championships that begin on Saturday.

The Panthers were set to play the No. 2 Piute team on Wednesday of last week but unfortunately the game was cancelled due to weather. The game with Bryce Valley was played on the road and the Panthers struggled to find any offense as they were unable to generate a hit in their plate appearances.

Todd McFarland got the start on the mound for the Panthers, going 3 1/3 innings giving up nine earned on 11 hits, striking out three, and taking the loss. Joey Howell came in to close out the game.

The Panthers will now head to Spanish Fork on Friday to face No. 7, Manilla. The Mustangs finished the regular season 9-7 and ended 1A North play at 6-3. To find the last time these teams faced each other you have to go back to August of 2017 when Pinnacle claimed a 7-1 win.

The winner of that contest will play Bryce Valley on Oct. 4.
