The Gallery East is excited to present a new exhibit by an alumni member Chris Manwaring whose paintings will be on display from Oct. 3 through Oct. 28 for the community to visit. Associate Professor of Art, Noel Carmack stopped by Castle Country Radio to talk about the show.

“You’re going to see a lot of landscape. He prides himself in being a planer painter so he’s outdoors a lot. Recently, I think in the last couple of years he’s been doing some wildlife paintings. He’s made a visit to Africa, and some other places in Europe. So you’ll not only see landscapes, outdoor scenes, but you’ll see some wildlife, and he’s also doing some figurative work as well,” stated Carmack. Figurative means people or domestic scenes. There are about 30 paintings that will be on display for the exhibit.

There will be an opportunity to sit in on a workshop with the artist.  “He’s going to be here on Oct. 27 and 28. We’re actually going to have him do a little workshop for us on Thursday afternoon on the 27th if anyone is interested in participating in that. It’ll happen about 1:00 pm or 1:30 pm in the afternoon, we’ll be outdoors and he’ll probably do a little demonstration there,” said Carmack. This workshop is free. The artist will be at Gallery East for a closing reception and gallery talk on Friday, Oct. 28, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

It’s quite easy to go take a look at the exhibition held inside Gallery East Studio on the campus of USU Eastern. “There’s no entry fee, its free to the public. We’re open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We’re closed on weekends and holidays. There have been occasions when we’ve had maybe a local school want to come in after hours or something. I even had Cub Scouts come in and I’ve opened up after hours. So give me a call and we can arrange something like that,” explained Carmack. The Gallery East Studio is a great way to introduce the arts to community members.
