
Beverly Lancaster was one of twelve Carbon High School student-athletes that were recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2022 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News. Lancaster was a two sport athlete receiving honors in both cross country and soccer.
The Carbon cross country team had the most with four members making the list. Lancaster and Ambree Jones earned honors on the girls side and for the boys Braxton Ware and Nathan Engar made the list. The team will be back on the course on the October 19, for the Region 12 match. Their season will come to an end on October 25 at the state meet in Salt Lake City.
Lady Dino soccer added three names to the list. Once again it was Lancaster along with Jezmin Pressett and Kinley Cowdell. The Dinos season came to an end last Saturday at the hands of the Manti Templars.
The golf team added three names as well with 3A State Champion Bode Salas making the list along with team mates Daron Garner and Cole Yoklavich. Carbon finished the season last week taking third overall in 3A.
Lizzy Blackburn and Lindsey Snow were the two members of the Carbon Dino tennis club to earn the honors. Snow made it to the semifinals and Blackburn fell in her opening round match in the 3A State Championships, where as a team Carbon finished in eighth place.
Dylan Curtis was the lone representative for the Carbon Dino football team to receive honors. The Dinos ended their regular season last Friday with a loss in Cedar City to Canyon View, and will face Richfield in the opening round of the playoffs this week.
For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
