
Nine Emery High School student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2022 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.
The Lady Spartan volleyball squad had the most student-athletes make the list with four. Aubrey Guymon, Brielle Rowley, Haidyn Roper and Tylee Perkins, all received honors. The team is down to the final game of the season on Tuesday when they travel to Moab to face Grand. On Wednesday the final RPI ranking will be released along with the bracket for the 3A State Championships, that will start on Saturday.
Emery’s soccer team had three ladies that made the list for honors. Alexia Mortensen, Ashlyn Durrant and Makaila Peacock led the Spartans to a 5-13 overall record and the No. 15 spot, their season came to an end October 12 with a loss to No. 2 seeded Canyon View.
Danika Farley received the nod for her play this season on the tennis court.
Carter Huntington was the lone member of the Spartan golf team that earned the honor. Huntington and the Spartans ended the season just last week at the 3A State Championships.
For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
