
After taking care of Grantsville in round one of the 3A State Championships, the Lady Dinos welcomed the No. 5 Manti Templars to Price for round two on Saturday. The Templars turned on the defense holding Carbon without a goal taking the 3-0 win.
In the opening game of the season on Aug. 4, these two teams met up and the Templars took a 3-1 win, with the Dinos Bailey Johnson, scoring the only goal. From there, the Lady Dinos made their way throughout the season climbing all the way to No. 4 spot in 3A,
Manti came out on Saturday finding the back of the net once in the first half to go up 1-0 at half time. In the second half, the Templars put two more goals on the board and senior Brynlee Wathen continued her dominance in goal posting a shutout.
For the Templars it was Morgan Chidester putting two goals up and Kaylee Perry scoring the other. Manti will face RSL Academy in the semifinals on Thursday, October 20.
The Lady Dinos finished the 2022 season 12-5-1 overall with a 6-2 Region 12 mark which earned them the second place spot behind Canyon View, who lost their second round meeting with Juan Diego on penalty kicks 5-4, on Saturday as well.
Carbon will say goodbye six seniors from this year’s squad, Emma Flemett, Kacie Brady, Kinlee Cowdell, Beverly Lancaster, Jezmin Pressett and Shalyce Rahaula will all be moving on, giving plenty of underclassmen the chance to step up and make an impact for next year.
