Green River and Pinnacle met for the third time on the volleyball court Saturday with a trip to the 1A State Championships on the line. The two teams met in Green River with the home team taking a 3-0 win.

The Pirates claimed victory in the previous two meetings, 3-0 on Aug. 30 at home and 3-0, on Oct. 13 at Pinnacle. The meeting on Saturday played out just the same, with the Pirates taking all three sets (25-7, 25-7, 25-10).

For the Panthers, their season comes to an end with a 3-19 record and they earned the No.20 spot in the season ending RPI. Pinnacle couldn’t find a rhythm all season going winless in Region 23. Look for a season in review for the Pinnacle Panthers in the coming days on castlecountryradio.com

Green River will move on to face No. 4 Tabiona (13-8) this Friday at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield , in one of the first matches of the day starting at 9 a.m..

A win over Tabiona would put them in the next round where they will face the winner of Wayne (19-6, No. 5)/Monument Valley (8-6, No. 12). The Pirates have faced both teams twice this season, taking two losses (3-0, 3-1) against Wayne and splitting the season series with Monument Valley (3-2 L, 3-0 W) with each team winning on the other teams home floor.

A loss would send the Pirates to the consolation round where they would face the losing team in the match. After falling into the lower bracket the best possible finish for Green River would be sixth.

The 1A State Volleyball Championships will come to an end on Saturday afternoon when the 1A Champion will be crowned.
