Hugh Leonard Littrell, 78, passed away peacefully October 23, 2022 after a bout with pancreatic cancer.  Hugh had a very gentle soul who always found the best in the everyone he met.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Hugh truly loved living in Alaska, but finally learned to love the beauty and majesty in Kenilworth as much or more.

He was born to Leonard and Maxine Thompson Littrell in Denver, Colorado on January 24, 1944.  He had two children and five grandchildren; Lizzy, Nickolas, Mikayla, Dylan and Nico whom he loved with all his heart.

Hugh graduated from North Denver High in 1962 and later graduated from Western University with his associates. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an intelligence officer on an aircraft during Vietnam.  Hugh was responsible for debriefing pilots after they returned from their sortie.  After his time in the Navy, he went to work as an air traffic controller in San Francisco tracon and was later transferred to tower controller in Anchorage.  After he was laid off by the FCC, he moved to Europe to study languages and teach English for about a year.  Upon returning to the states, he moved to Homer, Alaska.  While there, he was lucky enough to get some modeling, television work and also work as a supervisor in one of the many fish canneries.

While working for the State of Alaska as an employment security specialist, Hugh finally found his true soulmate, Juanita. They were married in Denver in Denver, Colorado on December 7, 1996.  In 1990, Hugh retired from the State of Alaska.  Hugh and Juanita owned homes in Anchor Point, Alaska and Kenilworth, Utah where they would spend the summers in Alaska and the winters in Utah until 2015.  After selling the home in Alaska, they settled in Kenilworth and have lived there since.  Hugh loved to hike and camp in the mountains around Kenilworth with his wife, Juanita.  He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper where he played the bass guitar, sang in the choir and was also a Knight of Columbus.  Hugh was a member of the Ukulele group at the senior center.
