With the indoor pool in Price closed for a refurbishment, the Carbon Dinos swim team won’t be able to host any meets this season. So, whenever they swim at the Emery Aquatic Center, it will be the closest they have to being home. In Tuesday’s meet, with Emery, Richfield and South Sevier, the Lady Dinos grabbed a first place team win with the boys finishing in third.

The girls team ended last season with a second place finish in the 3A State Championships to Judge Memorial, dashing their hopes for a fourth straight state title.  They definitely got off on the right foot, taking the top spot at Emery. After the Dinos, the Spartans landed the second spot. Richfield and South Sevier made up the rest of the field.

Alyssa Chamberlain grabbed a top finish in the 50 yard free. Lindsie Fausett also claimed a first place finish in the 500 yard free with a time of 7:18.47 almost a full 40 seconds ahead of second place. The Lady Dinos earned first place finishes in the 200 yard free with the team of Chamberlain, Hadley Bower, Mia Crompton and Ember Lyman. Then in the 400 yard relay Ada Bradford joined team mates Chamberlain, Fausett and Bower to earn the top spot.

Other top finishers for the girls team included Lilly Thayn with a third place in the 200 yard free, Crompton earned a fourth  place finish in the 50 yard free and a third place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke, Lyman finished right behind her in fourth.  Chamberlain would also grab second place in the 100 yard free and Bradford  second place in the back stroke. In the 200 yard medley Bradford and Lyman along with Jennacie Jefferey and Kaisa Earl had a second place finish also.

On the boys side of the pool it was the host team Emery that would grab the top spot in the team competition. Richfield landed in second, followed by Carbon and South Sevier.

Nathan Engar grabbed a top finish for the Dinos in the 200 yard and 100 yard free, Spencer Tullis also took first in the 50 yard fee. Leland Kepsel earned first place in the 100 yard fly and in the final event of the day the 400 yard free relay team of Engar, Tulllis, Cameron Jones and Boyd Bradford claimed a top finish.

Ian Kranendonk finished in fourth in the 100 yard breast stroke for the Dinos. Bradford had a top three finish in the 200 yard free, and a fourth place finish in the 100 yard back.  Jones had a fourth place in the 50 yard free and Jackson Thayn third in the 500 free. In the 200 yard free, the team of Kranendonk, Engar, Tullis and Bradford finished in second and in the 200 medley Logan Kranendonk, Ky Earl, Thayn and Kepsel finished the day in third.
