The Emery Spartan swim team was back in the pool on Tuesday at the Aquatic Center in Castle Dale, inviting in Richfield , South Sevier and Carbon. Once the waters calmed it was the Emery boys that claimed a first place finish while the girl’s team earned second, in one of the first meets of the season.

Swimming has one of the longest seasons starting in late October and coming to an end in February. Last season the Emery girls ended with a seventh place finish and both the boys and girls teams are eager to get back at it this season.

The Emery boys grabbed the top spot followed by Richfield, Carbon and South Sevier.

The 200 yard relays belonged to the Emery boys. In the medley the team of Alex Fredrick, Jacob Fauver, Tyler Frandsen and Bryant Durrant swam to a first place finish with a time of 2:00.96. In the 200 yard free Kade Larsen joined Fauver, Durrant and Frandsen to finish in first turning in 1:43.53.

The only individual top finish for the boys came in the 500 yard free, where Alex Fredrick finished with a time of 6:19.46, which was a full 40 seconds ahead of second place.

Other top finishers for Emery included Kade Larsen and Frandsen who went second and third in the 50 yard free.Larsen and Durrant went second and third in the 100 yard free. In the 100 yard back stroke Frandsen and Fauver went two and three and Will Stilson turned in a fifth place finish. Parker Jensen and Devin Olsen finished in second and fifth respectively in the 100 yard breast stroke and in the 400 yard relay the team of Fredrick, Stilson, Tyson Laws and Adam Olsen earned a second place finish.

For the girls it was Carbon who took the top spot, followed by the Spartans. Richfield and South Sevier rounded out the field.

The Emery team of Aspen Jensen, Aubrey Guymon, Melody Lake and Sydney Carter turned in a first place finish in the 200 yard medley with a time of 2:20.33. Lake would also finish in first place in the 200 IM and the 100 yard breast stroke. Guymon also earned a top finish in the 100 yard back stroke.

Guymon and Carter claimed the second and third spot in the 50 yard free, Carter also had a top three finish in the 100 yard free. Rileigh Meccariello joined team mates Lake, Jensen and Carter to claim third place in the 200 yard free relay. Megan Bass finished third in the 500 free and Carley Young earned a second place spot in the 100 yard breast stroke.

The Spartans head back to the pool next Wednesday to face Manti.
