
Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, LT COL Mack. A. Johnson, age 97, died November 19, 2022 in Price, Utah.
Mack was born April 27, 1925 at home in Price, Utah, to Belle Peacock and Angus Emeron Johnson. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1943, attended Carbon College and Creighton University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mack graduated in Business, Banking, and Finance from the University of Utah in 1948. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves until 1985.
He married Joyce Cima on September 5, 1945 in Helper, Utah. They lived in Salt Lake City while he attended the University, moving back to Helper in 1948 to help his ailing father run the family business, Johnson Service from 1948 until 1953. They then moved to Price where they lived until their deaths.
After his father’s death, the service station was sold and Mack began his career with the Price Trading Company in 1953, serving many years as the corporation’s Secretary-Treasurer. He was active in the Price Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Price Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of College of Eastern Utah. At the time of his death, he was a member of Pro-Carbon Development.
In 1977, he bought the Price Trading Company and ran it for over twenty years. When he closed it, he opened Price Parts Plus. He retired from there in 2012.
In addition to his dedication to his loving family and his community service, he was an avid amateur landscaper and gardener, deriving great pleasure from working in the soil and creating his large, beautiful yard.
Mack and Joyce were the proud parents of four children: Steffeny (Dick) Fazzio, Peggy Joyce Rasband, Kris (Tami) Johnson, and Tamela (Larry) Johnson-Tannenbaum; grandchildren: Cameron Fazzio, Sean (Jen) Fazzio, Jef (Vinnie) Fazzio-Lawrence, Andi Rasband, and Nat (Nick) Stocking. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Tony (Fazzio) Bowen, Cameron Michael Fazzio, Maddison Lawrence, Michael
Ray Fazzio, Caiman Lawrence, Remi Joy Stocking and Piper Kay Stocking as well as 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, parents and siblings: Richard (Dick) Johnson, Karma Paulsen, and Thelma Sessions.
In accordance to his wishes a celebration of life will be held, Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Full military honors will be accorded by the Hill Air Force Base Honor Guard at the Price City Cemetery.
