It’s time once again for Castle Country Radio to catch up with Castle Dale City Mayor Danny VanWagoner about what is taking place in the city. He was eager to talk about the city’s Ice-Skating Rink, Community Christmas Party and Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt.
“We have a full-size ice-skating rink, it’s behind the Rec Center. There’s fire pit, there’s lights. Give it another couple of weeks, maybe 10 days, and it may be ready to rocking and it will be tons of fun for everybody out there. All you have to do is go into the Rec Center they have ice skates, they have, I do believe there’s some hockey sticks, there’s the little carts to help people like me that don’t know how to skate very well, so we don’t fall on our bottoms so often,” stated Mayor VanWagoner. Skate rental is $5.00 and you can obtain skates during the Rec Center’s regular business hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The annual Community Christmas Party has been scheduled to take place on Dec. 13. “It’s our annual Christmas Party and it’s going to be Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 6:00 pm, also at the Rec Center. It’s a chili dinner, sponsored by Fatty’s. Santa will be there with toys and goodies. It’s just a good time to come in, everybody’s is welcomed, and just sit down and be a community, and enjoy each other,” said Mayor VanWagoner. This dinner is a great opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal, and getting to know your neighbors.
The city is hosting a Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt for individuals and families to enjoy throughout the city. “Now through Christmas Eve we have copies of a printable scavenger hunt you can come in and get off Facebook or come into the city and get it filled out. Go out, do the scavenger hunt, might take you a day, might take you a week. When you get it done, bring it back into the city, and we have a Christmas treat for you,” explained Mayor VanWagoner. This scavenger hunt is a great way to tour the city and look at all the beautiful Christmas lights.
Hopefully, in the next few weeks or so we will be seeing some snow storms come through the area so there are some housekeeping items that need to be addressed for residents to practice. “We need people to keep their cars out of the street, park them on your driveway, so we can get in with our trucks and make those roads safe. When it usually snows, we are buried, and we have two trucks out, and the more people work with us, the better we can get our job done and make it safe to get around and about here is Castle Dale,” said Mayor VanWagoner. Any residents that have questions about the city’s ordinances and snow removal procedures can contact City Hall.
