The Panther basketball team has been riding a win streak, four wins in a row was a new school record and they added one more to it on Friday night in Hurricane when they defeated the Diamond Ranch Academy Diamondbacks in a close one 35-32.

Diamond Ranch is a team out of the 1A classification, but plays out of a different region than Pinnacle, in fact you have to go back to December of 2019 to find the last time the Panthers beat the Diamondbacks in overtime 60-56.

Both teams started out the game quietly, maybe sizing each other up in the first quarter, that ended with Diamond Ranch on top by one, 7-6.  In the second quarter it was quiet once again as neither team wanted to be the aggressor, and it showed as the teams went in to the locker room at half time tied at 15.

In quarter three, Pinnacle looked to make a move and put the clamps on defensively holding the Diamondbacks to 10 in the quarter and taking the lead, 29-25, moving into the fourth and maintaining the lead to earn the three point win.

Jonathan Kessler scored 14 for the Panthers, Cole Barton had 11 and Brody Howell added six.

Pinnacle will be home on Wednesday night when they welcome in Merit Prep Academy as they looking for that sixth straight win to start the season.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30.
