The USU Extension Carbon County is hosting a course to help folks prepare for the upcoming holiday gift giving season and they will be hosting a Quick & Easy Christmas Gift Ideas segment on Dec. 7. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences, Christina Pay to get all the details.

This event will be taking place at 7:00 pm on Dec. 7 at the USU Extension Classroom located inside the Carbon County Administration Building at 751 East 100 North, Suite #1700 in Price. “The holidays can be very stressful and a lot of people, like you said, like to give gifts to teachers, neighbors, and even family parties, and that can be extremely stressful so we’re hoping to take a little bit of that stress away. It’s a great ritual to have to do those things, its very beneficial to the giver, so we want them to be able to continue to be able to do that and yet not feel the stress that comes with trying to figure out what to give them. So we’re going to showcase some Quick & Easy things that you can throw together that would be meaningful and useful, and beneficial to those that receive them,” said Pay. The items for the most part will be inexpensive, unique and thoughtful.  You will be able to make the items quite easily in your home for neighbors, friends and teachers.

“We’ll also have some recipes to share and demonstrated of maybe some food gifts that you can give or maybe even just some snacks and treats to have around the house during the holidays. I love to make candy, so I have a peanut cluster recipe that you do in the crock pot, so easy, so good, and that’s probably by favorite one to giveaway. I also like to make peanut brittle, and those kinds of things, but those are my go-tos,” stated Pay. Homemade baked items are a great way to show that you put a lot of thought and time into your gift.

The Quick & Easy Christmas Gift Ideas class is filling up quite quickly with limited seating available so get signed up on https://www.eventbrite.com/ If you are unable to attend the event in person you will be able to access the class on the USU Extension YouTube channel the next day. “We do have a YouTube channel now; we’re still working out some of the kinks with that so our technology is getting better as we go on. But our YouTube channel is USU Extension Quick & Easy Cooking channel and so we tried to do it live on the channel, it kind of worked last time, hopefully this time it will work completely so that you can join us either live or it will be there as a recording,” stated Pay.

If you have any questions about the Quick & Easy Christmas Gift Ideas class, please call the USU Extension Office at (435) 636-3233.
