A 31 point fourth quarter propelled the Emery Spartans to a 65-51 win over the Millard Eagles on the road Wednesday night. Talon Tuttle scored 13 and Luke Justice 12 as the Spartans moved to 4-1 this season.
Coming off of a bump in the road last Wednesday against a very good South Summit team, the Spartans were looking to put the loss behind them and take on Millard.
The Spartans started off with a 9-2 run and once things calmed down Millard had pulled even and taken a one-point lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter both teams played even, scoring seven points each and going in to the locker room at half time with Millard still holding the one point lead.
Quarter three was another quiet one with the Spartans scoring 13 and holding Millard to 10. It was in the fourth when the game got very interesting as both teams combined for 50 points. Around the 6:30 mark, Emery began to put some distance between themselves a Millard going on an 11-3 run, opening up their lead and using their momentum to claim the win.
Along with Tuttle and Justice, Wade Stilson added 11 with Zeke Tuttle putting in eight and Creek Sharp seven in the win.
Up next for Emery, they will be home on Friday night to face the 2-4 Union Cougars.
The game can be heard on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM beginning with the Landon’s Diesel Pre-game show at 6:30 and tip-off will follow at 7.
