A three-game win streak, followed by a four-game win streak has led the Emery Spartans to an overall 7-2 record at the end of the 2022 calendar year.

The Spartans opened the season, at home, with a non-region matchup with Maeser Prep Academy on Nov. 16. Talon Tuttle scored 14 points, on 4-8 shooting from three-point range, to lead Emery to an 81-21 dominant win. Wade Stilson also contributed with 12 points, seven assists and seven steals.

The Green River Pirates were the next team to face the Spartans. Talon Tuttle scored another 18 points, hitting five more threes, in a 81-48 victory for Emery. Brett Rasmussen had 13 points and two blocks in the win.

Emery earned their third-straight win after a 59-45 throttling over Providence Hall. Luke Justice led the team with 16 points and Wade Stilson recorded a double-double after 10 points, 10 rebounds. Stilson also led a stout defense with six steals.

The first road game of the season took the Spartans to Kamas, Utah in a matchup with South Summit. Despite Luke Justice’s season-high 23 points, the Spartans fell, for the first time this season, 57-64. A back-and-forth affair next awaited the Spartans in a battle against the Union Cougars. Thanks to a late fourth-quarter surge, and 16 points from Talon Tuttle, Emery fought for a 74-63 win. Brett Rasmussen anchored the paint for Emery with a double-double of his own, 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The North Sanpete Hawks hosted the Spartans in a non-region contest in mid-December. Wade Stilson scored 20 points to lead the Spartans, but it was Easton Nielson and Talon Tuttle who hit clutch three-pointers in the fourth to give Emery a lead. Stilson had seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals to accompany his 20 points.

Luke Justice and Wade Stilson combined for 36 points, 18 each, in a 65-58 Spartan victory over Uintah. Stilson recorded his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Justice went 2-3 from three-point land to aid his 18 points.

The last game of the 2022 calendar year was a road matchup against 3A foe Morgan. Brett Rasmussen’s 15 points and 8 rebounds were not enough for the Spartans as they fell 66-74 to the Trojans.

Luke Justice leads all Spartans in scoring with 13.7 points per game. Wade Stilson sits just behind Justice with 12.3 per game. Brett Rasmussen grabs 8.6 rebounds per game, leading the Spartans.
