The Carbon wrestlers hadn’t been on the mat since their meeting with the Union Cougars on December 20. Coming off the moratorium to take part in the Braveheart Duals at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden last weekend, taking the fourth place finish in the gold bracket Carbon looks to push into the New Year.
Before the break coach Trent Greenhalgh joined Drive Time Sports to talk about one of the biggest things the wrestlers face during the break.
“The parties, your family parties, your get-togethers, the food, the unhealthy food, not just the food, all the soda and everything else that’s around, they’ve got to be disciplined. I think that’s the number one or one of the challenges of maintaining your weight.”
Carbon must have been ready because they had three wrestlers that went undefeated in their weight classes. Brax Tapia at 132 and Colin Fausett at 144 went 8-0 in their matches and at the 126 pound weight class Rawzyn Allred went 7-0.
The team from Evanston, Wyoming claimed the top spot at the duals, followed by Elko, Nevada. Preston, Idaho grabbed third while Carbon and Roy High School rounded out the top five.
Other Dinos with winning records were: Austin Cunningham, Trevor Jones, Preston Martinez, Victor Huitt and Jonathon Jewkes.
Up next for the Dinos they will travel to Monroe to face South Sevier on Wednesday.
