Green River hosts several fun activities throughout the year from a dirt bike rally in April to Outlaw Days in November. They held these events this past year and they are planning on hosting them again in 2023. Castle County Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Green River City’s Marketing Specialist, Robin Hunt who spoke on 2022 events.

“We started off with a great spring, we had the Green River Dirt Bike Rally, which brought 300 to 400 riders, that was always a lot of fun. We had Rich Larsen, who’s a pro rider come, and he did a clinic there. We actually still have the obstacles that he trained on out there, its on city property and anyone is welcomed to come and check it out,” said Hunt. The course is near Pirate Avenue and its open year-round for any riders that would like to try it out. Officials plan on hosting the Dirt Bike Rally again on April 13 through April 15 2023. They hope to again bring in Rich Larsen to conduct another clinic.

This year’s Melon Days celebration was back to normal and was in full swing with all the usual activities and events.  “Melon Days 2022 was awesome. I felt like we kind of come out of the COVID modify versions of Melon Days and we kind of back to normal. Our parade was huge, it went on forever, it was a nice long parade, which was awesome, great crowd, live music, awesome variety of vendors. We’re expecting it to be the same and better next year,” said Hunt. This year’s Melon Days celebration was named Best Festival to Attend in Utah by Travel Magazine. Mark your calendars for the third weekend in September for another Melon Days celebration in 2023.

November featured the annul Outlaw Days gathering and turned out to be a huge success with many cowboys and cowgirls attending from all over the state. “Outlaw Days is kind of a unique event it’s geared towards western activities. We have cowboy action shooting competition, a milk jug shoot, horseshoes, prime rib dinner, it’s a lot of fun. This year was our biggest year yet, its only our fourth year, but it showed a lot of promise. We had about 200 people there and its just continuing to grow, excitement for that event to be growing,” said Hunt. Events organizers plan to schedule Cowboy Poets for the 2023 gathering and look forward to more people attending the event that is held in November.

Green River has a 9-hole golf course that is open year-round and they also have a disc golf course as well. To learn more about the activities, lodging and dining in Green River visit the city’s website at https://www.greenriverutah.com
