The Lady Spartans were riding a six game winning streak when Corner Canyon came to Castle Dale Tuesday night. By the end of the evening, Emery would drop it’s first game in a little over a month, 68-45.

Over the month they beat teams from Manti, South Sevier, North Sanpete and Provo, averaging almost 57 point per game.

Emery came out against the Corner Canyon Chargers in the first quarter putting up 12 and giving up 23, and ended up playing catch-up the rest of the contest. In the second’ the Chargers built on their sizable lead adding 17 to take a 40-23 lead at the half.

In the second half it was more Corner Canyon as they outscored the Spartans 16-6 and moving into the final eight minutes where Emery had their best offensive output putting up 16 but still falling short 68-45.

Katelyn Nielsen led the way for the Spartans with 14 with three boards. Alexia Mortensen added nine with four rebounds and Aliya Lester had nine with two rebounds. Brielle Rowley grabbed five boards in the Emery loss.

Next up for the Spartans, the 6-2 Wayne Badgers will be in town on Monday game time is set for 7 p.m..

After that they will begin region play when they will travel to Cedar City to face Canyon View, Tuesday.
