This week’s Carbon School District weekly update shines a light on the Preschool Program that the district offers. Preschool Coordinator, Beverly Martinez took some time from her busy schedule to share all the details on the upcoming 2023-2024 Preschool Program.

March is a pretty important month for the Preschool Program as they begin to prepare for the upcoming school year. “End of March is when we do enrollment for the following school year, so I call families that are on the waiting list and help them get registered for the preschool for the next year for their child. So that would be the 2023-2024 school year,” said Martinez. Right now, she is accepting names on the waiting list. Getting on the waiting list is easy as you only have to submit the student’s name and contact information at this time.

Once you receive a call from Martinez that you have been accepted into the Preschool Program is when all the registration paperwork will need to complete. “Then when I give you that call at the end of March is when the formal process starts, and you go into the District Office and there is a registration fee that you need to pay, that’s paid there and you would fill out some paperwork. But you do need to wait till you get the phone call from me to do that,” said Martinez. The one-time preschool registration fee is $20.00, with tuition for a 3-year-old at $50.00 per month and tuition for 4-year-old is $70.00 per month. The program has done their best to keep tuition affordable for families.

The Preschool Program is available at five elementary schools. There is a program available in Helper at Sally Mauro Elementary, at Creekview Elementary in Price, Wellington Elementary, and out at Bruin Point in East Carbon. “Creekview tends to fill up early and people get on the waiting list for that, sometimes even a couple of years in advance. But if you are interested, I would still call and get in on the waiting list just knowing that it is probably not going to happen. But sometimes we have families move or we have people have a change of plans and so sometimes things open up unexpectedly. We do have plenty of room at our other preschools Sally Mauro, Wellington, and Bruin Point so please do call and get your child on the waiting list for those,” explained Martinez. The preschool program is a great way for parents to get their child prepared for kindergarten.
