
Brooklyn Palmer – USU Eastern Athletics

The USU Eastern women basketball team traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to face the College of Southern Nevada for the first time this season. The team was able to pull off the close victory, out scoring CSN 61-56.
The first quarter finished favoring Eastern 13-12. CSN outscored Eastern in the second quarter 22-17 and went into halftime up 4 points. The Lady Eagles had a strong third quarter, out scoring CSN 14-6. The Eagles also outscored CSN in the fourth quarter by 1 point, allowing Eastern to finish with a 5 point margin.
Three Eastern player were double figures in scoring. Maci Wall led with 17 points. Brooklyn Palmer added 15 points. Kacelyn Toomer scored 11 points. Brinlee McRae added 8 points.
USU Eastern had 13 assists on 18 made field goals. Kacelyn Toomer, Teagan Gray, and Hadley Humphreys each had 3 assists. Janel Blazzard had 2 assists while Brinlee McRae and Brooklyn Palmer had 1 each.
The Lady Eagles out rebounded CSN 44-36. Brinlee McRae led rebounding with 8 rebounds. Maci Wall and Olivia Nielson each grabbed 6 rebounds. Kacelyn Toomer, Hadley Humphreys, Brooklyn Palmer, and Janel Blazzard had 4 rebounds a piece. The Eagles’ defense kept CSN to shooting 36% from the field overall and 25% from the three.
USU Eastern is now 5-1 in conference and will begin the second round facing College of Southern Idaho. The game is on Wednesday January 11 at 5 pm in the BDAC in Price, Utah. The Eagles lost the previous matchup against CSI but are hoping to battle back with a win on Wednesday.
