After the lengthy holiday break the Carbon swimmers were rested and ready to get back in the pool and traveled to Utah Tech University in St. George for the Red Rock Invitational. With schools from across all classes and across the state, the Dino girls grabbed a top ten finish among the 16 schools, while the boys claimed the 12 spot out of 14 schools that took part in the two day event.
Carbon has truly been a team without a home this season with the renovations going on at the Price City pool, the Dinos have been unable to have any home meets, but continue through the year that only has three meets left before region, that takes place in Richfield on January 26.
The competition at Red Rocks was strong with schools from 5A and 6A in attendance making the field difficult to maneuver through.
Wasatch claimed the top spot, with 429 points on the girls side, with Timpview earning a second place finish. Crimson Cliffs, Cedar City and Desert Hills rounded out the top five. Carbon finished in ninth place with 193 points.
Alyssa Chamberlain earned a top ten finish in the 50 yard free coming in eighth place, she then joined with team mates Mia Crompton, Lisa King and Hadley Bower to take seventh in the 400 relay.
Crimson Cliffs took the top finish for the boys with 386 points, Wasatch took second with 376. Cedar City, Timpview and Payson made up the rest of the top five. Carbon landed in the twelve spot scoring 137 points.
For the boys, Gabe Ibanez claimed an eighth place finish in the 100 free, and the Carbon relay team of Ibanez, Nathan Engar, Mason Engar and Spencer Tullis, earned a seventh place finish in the 200 free relay and an eighth place in the 400 relay.
The Dinos will be back in the pool Thursday for a meet with Emery, Juan Diego and Summit Academy in Castle Dale, start time is 4.
They will then travel south once again for the Cedar City Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
