One evening removed from a win over the Wayne Badgers, the Emery Spartans were on the road to Cedar City to face Canyon View, the No.6 team in 3A.  The Falcons joined Region 12 last season, and while the game was close, Canyon View took the 53-50 win handing Emery their first region loss of the season.

Emery 9-5 and No. 9 in the 3A RPI, earned a 41-37 over Wayne in the friendly confines of the Spartan Center on Monday night, and as amazing as it sounds, The Lady Spartans are down to their final five games of the season.

Canyon View pounced on Emery in the first quarter putting up 16 points and holding the Spartans to 10, but Emery would flip the script putting up 17 in the second taking a two point lead into halftime.

Coming out in the third the Spartans kept up the pace from the second quarter, putting up 17 and pushing their overall lead to 44-40. Emery went cold in the fourth managing six points letting the Falcons back in it and taking the 53-50 win.

Makaila Peacock put in 12 points, grabbing three rebounds and handing out five assist, Katelyn Nielson added 10 pulling down four rebounds and Aliya Lester added eight and six boards. Kali Jensen had five assists in the loss.

The Spartans can look for their first region win on Thursday when they welcome the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats to the Spartan Center.
