pinnacle-2

The Pinnacle boys and girls basketball teams got back on the court after the winter break. The boys had a tough loss to Piute and a win against Telos and the girls dropped a pair of games to American Prep and Rockwell.

The girls hold a 3-9 record and sit in the No.19 spot in the 1A RPI. The RPI will update after every game and will be used at the end of the season to establish seeding in the state tournament which begins on February 25.

In the contest with American Prep, Pinnacle could never establish any offense, scoring only three points in the first half.

In the second half, scoring didn’t get any better, and the Panthers fell 26-14.

Up next was a game with the Rockwell Marshals, once again a slow start doomed the Panthers as they quickly found themselves down 28-15 at halftime.

The offensive struggles continued into the second half and the Lady Panthers dropped their second straight 56-25.

Pinnacle will be back on the floor on Thursday when they will travel to take on the Tintic Miners and will start Region 23 play on Wednesday when Green River comes to town. The game time is set for 5:30.

The Pinnacle boys have worked their way to a 10-5 record this season and hold the No.12 spot in the 1A RPI.

The Panthers came back after their break and traveled to face Piute, the No.4 team in 1A with a 10-3 record.

Piute is a team that almost every other team in the classification has trouble with, and it was no different for Pinnacle, who was already down 33-17 at halftime.

In the second half, Piute came out of the locker room looking to put the Panthers away quickly, putting up 37 points and taking the 70-41 victory.

Ryker Howell scored 12, grabbing six rebounds and three assists and Jonathan Kessler had 11 with seven rebounds and dished out five assists.

The next game was against Telos, this was the second meeting between the two teams. Back on December 17, Pinnacle earned a 70-36 win at the Winter Classic.

In the meeting Tuesday, Pinnacle came out firing on all cylinders scoring 30 points in the first half while holding Telos to 12.

The second half was another offensive barrage from the Panthers who put up another 33 taking the game, 63-26.

Kessler put up 25 in the win, Cloe Barton added 17 and Howell got in on the action as well with 13.

The Panthers will begin region play on Wednesday, at home against Green River. The game time is set for 7.
