Alexaundria “Sandra” Velasquez Lobato, 80, passed away January 13, 2023 at her home.

She was born November 8, 1942 in Monticello, Utah to Edward S. and Mary Alice Jaramillo Velasquez.  On February 27, 1960, she married the love of her life, Filadelfio Kenneth Lobato at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon, Utah; Ken preceded her in death on March 21, 2018.

Sandra cared compassionately her entire life— along with her husband they selflessly helped those in need around them, from buying strangers food to fostering children. They welcomed everyone with open hearts, a meal on the table, and a fresh bed to sleep in. Sandra spent her career in Early Childhood Development working at Head Start in Wellington where she thrived and influenced the lives of many— her love for kids and their well-being truly made her happy.

Sandra was known for her tidy house and famous weekend breakfast— let’s not forget the best tortillas around! She took great pride in everything she did, making sure she showed her kids and grandkids the “right” way to do things. She loved spending time with her family, dancing around the house with the kids, her dog, and a good pastry. She also enjoyed planting flowers and working in her yard.

Sandra is survived by three daughters and one son, Annette (Robert) Vigil, Kenny (April) Lobato, both of East Carbon, Nicole Lobato and Adam Walbridge, Herriman, Edith “Dee De” Velasquez, Salt Lake City; sister-in-law, Carol Lobato, Sunnyside, brother-in-law, Tom Archuleta, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ken Lobato; three brothers and one sister, John, Ernest, Edward and Dora. She felt at peace with her time to come, though we are certain that the many people she touched throughout her life would disagree. She will be greatly missed and we hope that her compassion for all people will be something that will live on through those who loved her.
