The Price City Youth Council is hosting a Personal Hygiene Kit Drive to assist the Carbon Caring for Kids organization. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Youth Council Members, Maddie Criddle and Landrie Anderson to get all the details on how community members can contribute items to the drive.
This idea was put together by members of the Youth Council that were looking for a service project to help local kids in the community. “So really what we were trying to do is we were trying to find nice things to do for other people for Christmas, and as we moved forward we realized that more than doing something for Christmas we wanted to do something that was good and didn’t have to be really attached to like a holiday or season. So we came up with the idea of doing a hygiene drive and donating it to kids in need,” said Criddle. The Youth Council is currently gathering items needed for the kits such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, brushes, combs, deodorant, ChapStick, shampoo, and conditioner.
There are several locations that the donated items can be dropped off to. “So we have quite a few locations where you can donate your unused and unopened hygiene products there will be drop off boxes at Price Municipal building, Carbon High School, Helper Middle School, Mont Harmon Middle School, Lee’s Music, Apple Country Crafts, both Bookcliffs Sales stores, Southeastern Utah Eye Clinic and Smiths,” said Anderson. The drop boxes will be located inside, in the front of the businesses.
Once the hygiene items have been gathered and kits put together, they will be delivered to the Carbon Caring for Kids organization. “They’re all going to go to Carbon Caring for Kids. That’s a program that they give out food to kids that are in schools, that need the food. Then with the kits it would also have the products that we are collecting,” said Criddle. The Price City Youth Council is hoping to gather enough items that each meal kit will have a hygiene kit too. The deadline to donate items towards the cause is Monday, Jan. 23.
The next big event coming up for the Price City Youth Council will be their annual Easter Egg Hunt. If anyone has any questions about the Personal Hygiene Kit Drive, they can contact the Youth Council on Facebook or Instagram.
