It’s time to sit down with newly appointed Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard to find out what is taking place in Emery County. Castle Country Radio will now have an opportunity every two weeks to speak with the Emery County Commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.
“We had an event last weekend that was fantastic, it was the Millsite On Ice. I think there was a lot of locals, those from Carbon and Emery County that went to that event. There were over 480 participants. It was nice to have them at our restaurants, our hotels, well we don’t have a lot of hotels but Airbnb and to have them in our community for a couple of days to enjoy our lake and to spend some money,” said Commissioner Leonard. This is an annual event held every January and with each year it grows in popularity among fishermen.
The annual Beat the Winter Blues Festival will be coming to Castle Dale at the end of the month. “We have Beat the Winter Blues Festival that is put on by the Business Chamber and that is Jan. 27 and 28 at the Rec Center here in Castle Dale. So please come out, there’s going to be a lot of events, activities, vendors. Its kind of a middle of the winter, you know get out of the snow and come mingle with people, come visit with friends and neighbors together at the Rec Center,” said Commissioner Leonard. Everyone is invited to attend this event there will be food, music, games and ice skating. More information can be found on the Emery County Business Chamber Facebook page.
With all the snow in the area it has the county wanting to highlight the Road Department for all of their hard work. “Definitely our road department and that group, Justin Truman, and also County Facilities, with Kyle Scow. They’ve cleaned the snow, they’ve made it safe for county employees, and the community as a whole to clear snow and make it safe. So just a shoutout to the Road Department and County Facilities,” stated Commissioner Leonard. Appreciation is also given to the citizens for making it easy for snow removal to be accomplished on the roads.
The Emery County Commissioners meet twice a month at 3:00 pm at the Emery County Courthouse at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A schedule of meetings is listed on the Emery County website at http://www.emerycounty.com/
