It’s time once again for Castle Country Radio to catch up with Castle Dale City Mayor Danny VanWagoner about what is taking place in the city. He was eager to talk about the upcoming Beat the Winter Blues Festival taking place this weekend.

“It’s going to happen on Friday, Jan. 27 starting at 4:30 pm and then it will move into Saturday all day long on Jan. 28. This is going to be at the Rec Center here in Castle Dale,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The festival is hosted every year for community members to enjoy each other’s company for a weekend.

There will be several events, activities and entertainment taking place all weekend long. “Friday we have the San Rafael Cheerleaders, Dance Studio, BINGO Bash, and then Friday night we’re going to have a free skating night. We got a phenomenal, world-class, ice skating rink that people love dearly, and they take care of it. You’re going to get to come down and skate on it for free,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The free skate will take place from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and you can check out skates at the Rec Center.

Saturday events kick off at 10:00 am with a painting class with Kaelynn Winn, entertainment will also begin at 10:00 am that morning with the Just Because Singers and the Emery County Royalty.  From 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, there will be Wagon Rides with Lee Jeffs. “Right after that at 1:00 pm there’s a Left, Right, Center Tournament – somebody is going to have to tell me what that is, I don’t know, but it sounds popular. Then at 1:30 pm we have Cornhole Tournament and cornhole seems to be the popular thing,” said Mayor VanWagoner. There will be cash prizes awarded to the top three teams and the cost to participate is $20.00 per team.

Everyone is invited to come out for the Beat the Winter Blues Festival taking place at the Emery Co Rec Center on Friday, Jan. 27 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be fun activities, lots of entertainment, cool events and several vendors at the festival. For more information please contact Patsy Stoddard at (435) 749-9025.
