The 2022-2023 basketball regular season is quickly coming to the end and when the Grand Red Devils came to town on Wednesday, Carbon began the second round of region games. Back on January 11, the Dinos traveled to Moab and handed the Devils a 72-59 loss. On Wednesday, the Dinos collected another win over Grand 58-49.

Carbon started out the season with four straight wins, only to follow that with five straight losses. Then came three wins in a row followed by three losses in a row. With the win over Grand the Dinos now sit at 8-8 with a 2-3 region mark.

The first quarter was competitive and would see Grand hold a slim one point margin headed into the second 15-14. The next quarter was where Carbon took over, putting up 19 while holding Grand to just nine, as the Dinos carried a 33-24 lead into the locker room.

Carbon let off the gas just a bit in the third maintaining a comfortable 11 point lead as the contest went into it’s final eight minutes. Grand was not done offensively coming out in the fourth putting up 16 and making it an interesting finish however the Dinos were confident and held on for the 58-49 victory.

Chet Anderson put up 19 in the win for the Dinos adding four rebounds. Zeke Wilson dropped in 14 and Cole Cripps and Mason Vasquez each had eight. Cripps would add five boards and Vasquez also add five rebounds and four steals. Ashton Ferguson pulled down eight rebounds as well.
