Thursday was “Senior Night” for the Lady Dinos as they welcomed the Richfield Wildcats to the gym at Carbon High School. Carbon jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and held on for the big win over the No. 2 team in 3A, 60-56.

Carbon has put together a three-game win streak with wins over Canyon View, Emery, and Richfield. The Dinos have moved their record to 13-4, with a 3-1 region mark, and sit at the No. 4 in the RPI.

The Lady Dinos jumped out to an early lead in the first, going up 16-9 on the Wildcats, who came roaring back in the second to score 20, cutting into the Carbon lead, 34-29 going into halftime.

In the second half, both teams went at it with neither side willing to give in. Both teams ramped up their offense and defense, Carbon was able to hold on to their lead by two going into the fourth. The final quarter went back and forth like the beginning of the game but the Dinos were able to hand the Wildcats their first region loss of the season.

Madi Orth and Amiah Timothy led the Dinos with the same stat line, each scoring fifteen, with six boards and five steals. Kennedy Williams had 10 with three assists and four steals.

The Dinos will head out on the road Tuesday, January 31, to face the defending 3A State Champion Judge Memorial Bulldogs.
