It’s time to sit down with Emery County Commissioner Jordan Leonard to find out what is taking place in Emery County. Castle Country Radio will now have an opportunity to speak with the commissioner to keep citizens informed on the latest news and events.
The weather has been sunny and clear lately, which means its time to get ready for spring sports in Emery County. “The Rec District is now signing up for youth sports, baseball, swimming, and a lot of their different spring sports. So if you want to get on their website or reach out if you’re interested in any spring sports that would be great,” said Commissioner Leonard. The current sports that you can sign up for are soccer, girls’ softball, Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth baseball, t-ball and the swim team. If you are interested in signing up for spring sports call the Emery County Recreation District at (435) 381-3505 or go online to emerycounty.com/rec to register.
The Emery County Junior Entrepreneur Academy is set to begin in March, this is for kids in grades fourth through twelfth grade. “It’s a really good program to help our youth look at entrepreneurship, maybe they want to start a business, get their mind flowing and rolling into economic opportunities as they get older. So that will start in March, those that are interested can go to the https://www.emerycountychamber.com/ website and get more information,” stated Commissioner Leonard. There will be various workshops held during the month of March to prepare the youth for their entrepreneurial ideas. Then they will be given the opportunity to sell their goods during the Emery County Fair in July. Any questions can be directed to the Emery Business Chamber at (435) 749-9025.
This segment’s department that is being highlighted for extraordinary work is the Emery County Recorder’s Office. “It’s definitely been busy in there with property purchases, rezoning, and subdivisions, and different sub-diving properties. They’ve just been really busy and just want to give them a shout-out in the Recorder’s Office. You know nobody notices what they do and the hard work that they put into the county, and making sure that it functions correctly there,” said Commissioner Leonard. If you happen to stop by the Recorder’s Office, be sure to thank them for a job well done.
The Emery County Commissioners meet twice a month at 3:00 pm at the Emery County Courthouse at 75 East Main Street in Castle Dale. A schedule of meetings is listed on the Emery County website at http://www.emerycounty.com/
