The Carbon Dinos welcomed the Richfield Wildcats to Price for the regular season finale. Back in January, when the two teams met up in Richfield, the Dinos fell just short, and on Friday night, a slow start in the second half was difficult to overcome, and Carbon ended the regular season with a 56-38 loss.

On January 20, the Dinos used a big second quarter, coming close to knocking the Wildcats off in a very tough environment in Richfield, in the 51-49 loss.

A Mason Vasquez three would get the Dinos on the board at the 6:44 mark, and for the rest of the quarter, the two teams would swap baskets with Richfield holding a slight 14-11 first-quarter lead. Once again Vasquez would get the Dinos back into it with two free throws, just under the five-minute mark in the second, to tie the game up at 18. The Wildcats would come back to take over the game and go into the locker room up 30-25.

In half number two, the Dinos came out flat and only could add five points to their score, and the Wildcats would use this to their advantage. Carbon’s struggles continued offensively into the fourth managing to put up just eight in the quarter and 13 in the second half as Richfield put up 26, taking the 56-38 victory over the Dinos.

Chet Anderson scored 12 while he grabbed three rebounds, Vasquez had eight and passed out three assists. Ryker Butler and Braxton Stevenson each scored six. Butler had six rebounds, and Stevenson had three rebounds and five assists in the loss.

Carbon ended the regular season with an 8-12 overall mark and a 2-6 record in region play. Saturday the final 3A RPI will be released and the Dinos find out where, when, and who they will play in the opening round of the state championships.
