The Emery swim teams traveled to Provo to the Richards Building pool at Brigham Young University over the weekend for the swimming State Championships. Girls teams from 26 schools and boys teams from 20 took to the pool to decide who was the best in 3A. The Emery girls had a fifth place finish while the boys ended the weekend in the 12 position.

On the boys side of the pool it was Judge Memorial earning the first place finish with 392.5 points. Canyon View took second with 242. Juan Diego, Ogden, and Union made up the top five. Emery scored 64 landing in the 12th spot.

Judge Memorial earned the top spot on the girls side as well scoring 234 points, and Juan Diego took second scoring 226. Carbon, Ogden and Emery who scored 154 points rounded out the top five.

The Emery Lady Spartans earned five third place state finishes. Senior Aubrey Guymon took a pair of those finishes individually in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.38, and again in the 100 fly, ending in a time of 1:03.53. Junior Melody Lake took third in the 500 free with her time of 5:55.19

Two of the Lady Spartans relay teams finished in third place as well. The 200 medley team of senior Aspen Jensen, senior Sydney Carter, Lake and Guymon had a time of 2:02.44. In the 400 free, senior Rileigh Meccariello, Junior Abby Morris along with Carter and Guymon crossed the finish line in 4:02.80.

For eight Spartans this will be their final State Championships. Ashlyn Durrant, along with Jensen, Guymon, Carter, and Meccariello for the girls and Bryant Durrant, Jacob Fauver and Alex Fredrick are all part of the class of 2023.
