Our spirited mother, grandmother, aunt, and good friend, Delores Ellen Allred Davies passed away February 15, 2023.

She was born to Gilbert Allred and Nellie Copeland in Trenton, New Jersey on September 5, 1934.

As a young girl she moved with the family to Moab, Utah. At the age of 17 her right leg was taken with cancer. At a time when most women would be sidelined, Delores took the challenge that life would bring and did not let anyone dictate how she would live her life from then on.

Strong willed, creative, salty, outspoken are just a few of the words used to describe her. She would marry Jack Davies, raise five children, divorce, and create a new career later in life with the Emergency Work Program where she was instrumental in placing individuals on volunteer work sites that often led to full-time employment. She later married Ruben Bera and the two spent many years vacationing and camping before they separated.

Grandma knew how to be the center of a party. She also taught us how to manage heartache having buried three of her five children, Johnny, Chuck, and Debbie, but in later years, battling numerous illnesses, broken bones, surviving a pandemic, and still having her grit and wit. Grandma’s legacy is that with might and determination mixed with a real sense of humor, you can sustain anything that life throws at you.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Nellie; her three children, Johnny, Chuck, and Debbie; her sisters, Carlyn, Joan, and Peggy; her brother, Gilbert; and nephews, Jack and Dan.

She is survived by her son, Scott; daughter, Virginia; nephews, Bob and Tim Buckingham; niece, Tracy McCormick, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial graveside service Friday, February 24, 2023, 2:00 p.m., Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily and may share memories at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
