The Lady Spartans were on the road Saturday to face the defending 3A State Champion Judge Memorial Bulldogs in Salt Lake. Emery lead for three quarters, heading into the fourth up by four, but the Bulldogs came from behind to take a 55-51 victory, ending Emery’s season in the process.

The Lady Spartans ended the regular season 9-10 overall and had an 0-6 record in division play. Ending the season in the No.9 spot on the RPI, the Lady Spartans had faced the Bulldogs once before this season in Emery’s first home game, with Judge earning a 60-50 win.

For Judge, the regular season for them ended with a 16-9 overall record which included a 6-2 Region 15 mark. The Bulldogs are just one season removed from a 3A State Championship, and their leading scorer, Teya Sidberry has moved on to play for the University of Utah.

Emery came out and played the Bulldogs tough in the first quarter pushing to a 12 all tie, it was in the second when the Lady Spartans started to gain some momentum outscoring Judge and taking a 26-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The third was more of the Lady Spartans staying right with the Bulldogs pushing their lead to 40-36 going into the final eight minutes. In the fourth Emery would go cold, with a seven minute stretch without a field goal, and not helping matters, Judge Memorial found their stroke putting up 19 in the quarter taking the 55-51 win, ending the Lady Spartans season.

Elyah Ocampo of Judge Memorial, lead all scorers in the contest with 15. Nyandeng Deng had 12 and Esther Analjok scored 11.

For the Spartans, junior Karleigh Stilson and senior Makaila Peacock each scored 13, and junior Aliya Lester scored 11 in the loss.

The season now comes to an end for the Lady Spartans. They will say good bye to four seniors Peacock, Sabrina West, Alexia Mortensen and Brielle Rowley.
