John Samuel Dougherty, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Kenilworth, Utah on February 22, 2023.

He was born December 29, 1949 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Samuel and Betty Rosette Dougherty.  John married the love of his life, Barbara Miller on July 27, 1968 in Golden, Colorado.  They were blessed with a daughter, Heather Ann who was born in Denver, Colorado on March 1, 1969.

John graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Colorado.  He began his career as a machinist with the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in Denver, following the path of his father Samuel and his grandfather, Charles Wooten Dougherty.  Shortly after starting work, he was transferred to Helper, Utah and took up residence in Kenilworth.

John enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, hunting and fishing.  He and Barbara cared for several beloved pets and he greatly appreciated his friends in the Kenilworth community.

John is survived by his sister, Mariann Holder, Tonto Basin, AZ; and a number of cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Dougherty; and his daughter, Heather Ann.

A celebration of life will be held at John’s home in Kenilworth on April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome to share memories of John online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
