Price City each month sends a representative to Castle Country Radio to keep listeners posted or informed on various topics. This month the update was with Price City Council Member, Amy Knott-Jespersen who spoke on the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, downtown district and Renaissance Festival.
The city’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will take place this year on Saturday, Mar. 18 at noon on the city’s Main Street. “The weather in March you never really know, but it doesn’t really matter because people come out and they celebrate and they just have a good time, this is just a fun parade,” said Knott-Jespersen. You can now register a float to participate in the parade by visiting the Price City website at https://www.pricecityutah.com/ This is free of charge and a great way to advertise your business within the community. There are several different categories that floats will be judged on such as funniest, best use of theme, most beautiful, mayor’s choice, chairman’s choice and viewer’s choice.
Speaking of Main Street there is always something going on at the downtown businesses with help from the Youth Main Street Committee. They are currently installing new banners on the poles throughout the downtown area to make it more inviting. “If you noticed the last couple of weeks our new banners have gone up, they started going up, and they’re not done going up yet but they are pretty close. Our Parks Department is working hard on getting those up, but they were originally designed about a year ago. The concept was created by our Youth Main Street Committee, so we’ve got our Price Youth Council Committee, and then we just have youth committee that’s totally for Main Street. So they kind of came up with a concept, we took that to Peczuh and they helped us come up with a really great design,” explained Knott-Jespersen. The banners will help the downtown area stand out from other parts of the city.
The next community festival coming to town on April 28 and April 29 is the Second Annual Renaissance Fair. This year’s gathering has expanded their events and activities and will be hosting the fair at Washington Park. “It was huge last year, its going to be event bigger this year. Megan does a great job, and the company that comes down and puts on the festival, does a great job. It’s a lot of fun, people dressed up in costumes, and really got into it. It’s a thing, these Renaissance Fairs they’re just a lot of fun,” said Knott-Jespersen. Event organizers are currently looking for sponsorships and volunteers for staff, entertainment or demonstrations.
