Monty Ray McKendrick, 64, of Wellington, Utah passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 1, 2023 after a long battle with COPD and Emphysema.

Monty was born on November 28, 1958 in Price, Utah to Norman S. McKendrick and Donna Lynn Brundage McKendrick. On February 18, 1978 he married the love of his life, Joy Lynn Byrge McKendrick. Together, they lived in Price, Utah and had three children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Monty’s greatest love was for his wife, his children, his family, and his dog, Sissy and Pujo. He enjoyed spending time with all his children and grandchildren, camping, and playing baseball and football. He had a love for motorcycles and was always up for a ride. A dare devil we was when it came to riding a motorcycle. He also had a passion for flying. Monty was a jack of all trades and could answer any question you had and could fix anything that needed fixing. He was the most humble and outgoing person. He was loved by everyone who knew him or met him. Monty did not have any enemies and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

Monty was a coal miner for most of his life until he was caved in on and disabled. Monty worked at Brazta, Wattis, and Soldier Creek, Co-op. After his mine accident he ran heavy equipment for Rail-Co. Later in life, he then drove truck for Savage until he could no longer work. One of his proudest things was being apart of the tunnel blasting up Thistle. He was the only man/employee who lasted from the beginning to the end of the job.

Monty will be dearly missed. He is survived by his true love and life long companion, Joy McKendrick; children, Crista McKendrick, Amanda McKendrick, and Jeremy McKendrick all of Price, Utah; brother, Denny (Maretta) McKendrick; sister; Terri McKendrick; mother-in-law, Joan Legat all of Price, Utah; aunt, Raedell Waller; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman S. McKendrick and Donna Lynn McKendrick; grandmothers, Reva Brundage and Della Gonzales; father-in-law, Ernest M. Legat; and his little Buddy, Tuffy Mae McKendrick and many others.
