Emery Spartan swimming started back in November and made their way through the 2022-2023 season taking the top spot in their fair share of meets concluding of course with the 3A State Championships where the Lady Spartans claimed the fifth spot and the boys earning the No. 12 spot.

Below is a recap of the meets that they attended:

November 1, 2022 @Emery

The Emery Spartan swim team was back in the pool on Tuesday at the Aquatic Center in Castle Dale, inviting in Richfield , South Sevier and Carbon. Once the waters calmed it was the Emery boys that claimed a first place finish while the girl’s team earned second, in one of the first meets of the season.

Swimming has one of the longest seasons starting in late October and coming to an end in February. Last season the Emery girls ended with a seventh place finish and both the boys and girls teams are eager to get back at it this season.

The Emery boys grabbed the top spot followed by Richfield, Carbon and South Sevier.

The 200 yard relays belonged to the Emery boys. In the medley the team of Alex Fredrick, Jacob Fauver, Tyler Frandsen and Bryant Durrant swam to a first place finish with a time of 2:00.96. In the 200 yard free Kade Larsen joined Fauver, Durrant and Frandsen to finish in first turning in 1:43.53.

The only individual top finish for the boys came in the 500 yard free, where Alex Fredrick finished with a time of 6:19.46, which was a full 40 seconds ahead of second place.

Other top finishers for Emery included Kade Larsen and Frandsen who went second and third in the 50 yard free.Larsen and Durrant went second and third in the 100 yard free. In the 100 yard back stroke Frandsen and Fauver went two and three and Will Stilson turned in a fifth place finish. Parker Jensen and Devin Olsen finished in second and fifth respectively in the 100 yard breast stroke and in the 400 yard relay the team of Fredrick, Stilson, Tyson Laws and Adam Olsen earned a second place finish.

For the girls it was Carbon who took the top spot, followed by the Spartans. Richfield and South Sevier rounded out the field.

The Emery team of Aspen Jensen, Aubrey Guymon, Melody Lake and Sydney Carter turned in a first place finish in the 200 yard medley with a time of 2:20.33. Lake would also finish in first place in the 200 IM and the 100 yard breast stroke. Guymon also earned a top finish in the 100 yard back stroke.

Guymon and Carter claimed the second and third spot in the 50 yard free, Carter also had a top three finish in the 100 yard free. Rileigh Meccariello joined team mates Lake, Jensen and Carter to claim third place in the 200 yard free relay. Megan Bass finished third in the 500 free and Carley Young earned a second place spot in the 100 yard breast stroke.

November 9, 2022 @ Manti

The Spartan swimmers were back at it again on Wednesday in Manti, and once again the Emery boys grabbed the top spot in the pool, the Lady Spartans ended the day in third.

Emery was followed by Millard, Carbon, host school Manti and North Summit.

Jacob Fauver was part of a trio for the Spartans to grab first place finishes at the meet. Fauver earned the top spot in the 100 free with a time of 55.95 followed by two fellow team mates Tyler Frandsen in second and Bryant Durrant in third, Fauver would also take second in the 200 individual medley. Will Stilson finished the 100 fly in first place and he also claimed third in the 100 yard back. Parker Jensen would put another first place in Emery’s column in the 100 yard breast stroke.

Other top finishers for the Spartans were Kade Lrrsen with a third place in the  200 free, Durrant would end the 50 free in third and Alex Fredrick finished second in the 500 free.

Emery also claimed top finishes in all three relays, in the 200 free the team of Larsen, Frandsen, Durrant and Fauver claimed first with a time of 1:42.78. It was another  top finish in the 400 free with the team of Fredrick, Larsen, Durrant and Fauver turning in a time of 3:52.79. And then in the 200 medley Fredrick, Jensen, Frandsen and Stilson swam to a second place.

The Emery Lady Spartans finished the day behind Carbon and Millard for third, but ahead of Manti and North Sanpete.

Melody Lake earned the only individual top finish for the girls putting forth a first place finish in a time of 1:15.87 in the 100 yard breast stroke, she would also take a second place time in the 100 fly. Aubrey Guymon claimed two second place finishes in the 50 free and the 100 free.

In both of the 200 relays the Lady Spartans earned first place finishes. In the medley the Spartans team of Lake, Guymon, Sydney Carter and Aspen Jensen grabbed the top spot with a time of 2:09.16, and in the free, Carter, Lake, Guymon were joined by team mate Purity Mason to turn in a time of 1:55.87.

November 11-12, 2022 Cedar City Invitational 

The Spartans swim teams traveled to Cedar City over the weekend to face schools from around the state and across classifications at the Cedar Invitational. With over 13 teams on the boys side and 14 on the girls this was the largest meet that they had taken part in this season. At the end of the two-day event the boys landed in the ninth spot and the girls ended the weekend in eighth.

For the girls it was Pleasant Grove claiming the top spot with 501 points. Host Cedar City was second and Crimson Cliffs landed in third. Tooele and Stansbury rounded out the top five with the Lady Spartans ending in eighth with 131 points.

For the Lady Spartans Melody Lake claimed a first place finish with a time of 1:15.84 in the 100 yard breast stroke. Aubrey Guymon also earned a top five finish ending the 100 yard fly in 1:07.53 which was good enough for fourth place.

In relays, in the 200 yard free relay the ladies team of Guymon, Lake, Sydney Carter and Purity Mason finished in fourth with a time 1:55.95. And the in 200 medley relay Guymon, Carter, Lake and Aspen Jensen turned in a time of 2:10.07.

On the boys side it was Parker Jensen with the only individual top ten finish earning an eighth place in the 100 yard breast stroke turning in a time of 1:15.57.

The Emery boys took three top ten finishes in relays as Jensen and his team mates Bryant Durrant, Tyler Frandsen and Will Stilson finished the 400 free with a 10th place time of 4:00.42. Durrant, Jacob Fauver, Alex Fredrick and Kade Larsen earned an eighth place finish in the 200 free relay with their time of 1:44.08 and a ninth place in the 200 medley finishing in 2:01.41.

November 22, 2022 @ Emery

The Emery boys swim team grabbed another first place finish at home on Tuesday as they welcomed Carbon, Grand and Gunnison Valley to Castle Dale. The Lady Spartans finished the day in second.

Behind Emery it was Carbon finishing the day in second place, followed by Grand and Gunnison.

For the Spartans it was all about the relays with the team of Bryant Durrant, Alex Fredrick, Parker Jensen and Will Stilson grabbing  a top finish in the 200 medley, Durrant, Jacob Fauver, Tyler Frandsen and Kade Larsen earned a second place finish in the 200 free, and in the 400 Fauver, Frandsen, Fredrick and Larsen swam their way to a third place finish.

There were also a lot of stellar individual performances for the boys. Larsen went on to claim first place in the 100 free and a third place finish in the 200 individual medley. Frandsen earned a second place in the 100 back stroke and a third in the 100 fly. Fredrick claimed the second spot in the 500 free and a third place in the 200 free. Durrant earned a second place in the 100 free, Fauver  had a second in the 100 fly, Jensen had a third place finish in the 100 breast stroke, and Adam Olsen earned a third place finish in the 500.

The Lady Spartans finished in second place behind the Carbon Dinos. Grand and Gunnison claimed third and fourth, respectively.

Relays were important for the girls as well as the Emery team of Sydney Carter, Aubrey Guymon, Melody Lake and Purity Mason took a first place finish in the 200 free. Carter, Guymon, Lake and Abby Morris would team up for another top finish in the 400 free. And Aspen Jensen, Mason, Carley Young and Rileigh Meccariello earned a third place finish in the 200 medley.

Guymon would earn a top finish in the 200 free and a second place in the 100 yard backstroke.  Jensen swam to a first place finish in the 100 fly. Lake finished the 200 IM with a first and also earned a third place in the 100 back stroke. Carter earned a second place in the 50 free, and Mason had a third place finish in the breast stroke. Morris finished third in the 100 free and Young earned a second in the breast stroke.

December 7, 2022 @ Union

The Spartans were back in the pool on Wednesday, this time on the road in Roosevelt to take on the Carbon Dinos and the host Union Cougars. Once again there was plenty of accolades to go around on both the boys and girls side of the pool as well as great individual performances and team work in the relays.

For the Emery boys, Tyler Frandsen earned a first place finish in the 50 free, he would also claim third in the 500 free,  Alex Fredrick earned a second place spot in the 200 IM and Kade Larsen grabbed a third spot in the 200 free.

In relays it was the team Frandsen, Fredrick, Chase Huggard and Parker Jensen that earned the top spot in the 200 medley relay.  Bryant Durrant, Fredrick, Huggard and Larsen finished the 200 free relay in second place, and then Durrant, Frandsen, Jensen and Larsen took third in the 400 free relay.

For the girls, Sydney Carter took first place in the 100 free, and finished in second in the 50 free. Aubrey Guymon earned a top finish in the 50 free and the 100 breast stroke, while Melody Lake went first and second in the 200 and 100 free.

Lake. Carter, Guymon and Rileigh Meccariello earned first place in the 400 free relay and Lake, Guymon Carter and Purity Mason earned a second place finish in the 200 free relay.

December 9, 2022 @ Grand 

It was one-two finish for the Emery girls and boys swim teams as they traveled to Grand to face Richfield, North Sanpete, South Sevier and Summit Academy. Emery took the top spot on the girls side and it was a second place finish for the boys.

After Emery, it was host Grand, Richfield, North Sanpete, Wasatch Academy and South Sevier rounded out the spots on the girls side of the pool.

Melody Lake had a terrific outing, grabbing two first place finishes in the in both the 50 and 500 free. Carley Young took the top spot in the 100 yard breast stroke. Aubrey Guymon swam to a first place finish in the 100 backstroke and a third place in the 200 free. Purity Mason ended the 100 yard breast stroke in second place. Rileigh Meccariello took a third place finish in the 100 free, Abby Morris finished second in the 100 free and third in 50 free.

Relays have always been strong for the girls and at this meet the team of Guymon, Morris, Lake, and Aspen Jensen earned a first place finish in the 200 medley relay and in the 200 free Mason, Meccariello, Guymon and Lake took first in the 200 free.

On the boys, it was  Richfield that grabbed first place followed by Emery, Grand, North Sanpete and South Sevier.

Kade Larsen finished in second place in the 200 free and a third place in the 200 IM. Jacob Fauver finished in third place in the 50 free, Will Stilson finished second in the 100 fly.

In the 400 relay the Spartan team of Larsen, Parker Jensen, Tyler Frandsen, and Chase Huggard earned a second place finish in the 400 free relay and the team of Frandsen, Fauver, Larsen and Bryant Durrant earned a second place finish in the 200 free relay.

December 13, 2022 @ Emery 

The Emery girls swam their way to a first place finish on Tuesday as they hosted Uintah, Payson and Gunnison at the Aquatic Center in Castle Dale. The boys team ended the meet in third.

For the girls, it was the Lady Spartans with 329 points, Payson was in second with 277. Uintah and Gunnison rounded out the rest of the field.

Sydney Carter finished the 100 free with a time of 1:02.86, she also earned a second place in the 200 free. Melody Lake kept her momentum that she has had all season swimming to a first place finish in the 500 free, turning in her time of 6:15.09, and a third place finish in the 50 free. Carley Young turned in a time of 1:23.13 for first place in the 100 breaststroke, while Aspen Jensen earned the top spot in the 100 backstroke at 1:20.01. Aubrey Guymon took first in the 50 free with a time of 27.55 and also claimed third in the 500 free.

In the relays, the team of Carter, Lake, Young and Guymon finished in second, the Emery team of Carter, Lake, Guymon and Abby Morris took first in the 400 relay with a time of 4:13.71. Morris, Rileigh Meccariello, Purity Mason and Ashlyn Durrant swam to a first place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.

The Emery boys didn’t fare as well as the girls, finishing in third place behind Uintah and Payson. Gunnison landed in fourth.

Tyler Frandsen earned a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke while Alex Fredrick took second in the 200 free.

Frandsen, Fredrick, Jacob Fauver and Parker Jensen took third in the 200 medley relay while Frandsen, Fauver, Kade Larsen and Bryant Durrant finished third in the 400 free relay. In the 200 free relay, Durrant, Fredrick, and Larsen were joined by Chase Huggard as they landed in third.

December 15, 2022 @ Richfield 

The Emery Spartan swimmers traveled to Richfield to face three other schools, and as has been the case at quite a few meets this season, it was a clean sweep for both the boys and the girls as they each finished in first place.

The Lady Spartans once again garnered a first place finish followed by Grand. Host school Richfield claimed third and South Sevier fourth.

It was a big day for Aubrey Guymon who earned a first place finish in the 100 fly turning in a time of 1:05.51, and with a time of 1:06.99 she claimed a first place finish in the 100 backstroke, and breaking a school record held by her sister, Haley since January of 2021.

Melody Lake claimed two top finishes in the 200 IM with a time of 2:35.62, and also in the 100 breaststroke, turning in time of 1:14.50. Sydney Carter also earned a first place in the 100 free with a time of 1:02.58, Carter would also earn second place in the 200 yard free.

Carley Young had a second place in the 100 breaststroke and Purity Mason took third in the 50 free.

In relays, the team of Carter, Lake, Guymon and Aspen Jensen took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:09.06. In the 200 free relay Emery took the top two spots, in first place the team of  Mason along with Abby Morris, Amy Sorensen and Ashlyn Durrant with their time of 2:04.12 and in second, Kallee Lake, Acelyn Miglori, Emma Grim and Jabry Sharp were just behind with 2:11.61. the 400 free relay was another top finish for Emery as the team of Carter, Melody Lake, Morris and Guymon turned in a time of 4:16.69

On the boys side the finishing spots were actually the same as the girls, with Emery on top followed by Grand, Richfield and South Sevier.

Some of the top finishes for the Spartans came from Jacob Fauver, who earned three second place finishes in the 400 free, 100 free and 50 free. Bryant Durrant had a pair of third place finishes in both the thee 100 free and 200 free. Tyler Frandsen, had a second place finish in the 100 backstroke, and a third in the 100 fly. Alex Fredrick, had a second place finish in the 500 and a third in the 50 free. Kade Larsen had a third place in the 200 IM.

Durrant, Fauver, Frandsen and Larsen took first with a time of 1:41.51 in the 200 free relay. Fredrick, Will Stilson, Parker Jensen and Chase Hubbard claimed second in the 200 medley relay, and Frandsen, Larsen, Fauver and Durrant finished second in the 400 free relay and the team of Jensen, Stilson, Huggard and Mason Stewart finished in third.

January 6-7, 2023 Red Rock Invitational

The Spartan swim team got back in the water for the first time since December 15 in Richfield, traveling to St. George to participate in the Red Rocks Invitational at Utah Tech University. The two day meet included teams from 5A and 6A and out of 16 schools the Lady Spartans finished in seventh place. The boys team grabbed eleventh place out 14 teams.

Only three more meets remain until the Region 12 tournament on January 26 in Richfield. The Spartans have had some impressive showings this season and continue to build on their successes.

Wasatch took the top spot for the girls, with 429 points, followed by Timpview. Crimson Cliffs, Cedar City and Desert Hills made up the rest of the top five. Emery ended the weekend in seventh scoring 213 points.

A pair of Lady Spartans earned a couple of top finishes, Aubrey Guymon took a fifth place finish in the 100 fly and Melody Lake earned a third place in the 100 yard breast stroke.

For the boys, it was Crimson Cliffs who scored 386 points which landed them in first place, Wasatch took second. Cedar City, Timpview and Payson made up the rest of the top five. Emery finished in eleventh place.

For Emery, the relay team of Jacob Fauver, Kade Larsen, Bryant Durrant and Tyler Frandsen claimed eighth place in the 200 free relay.

January 12, 2023 @ Emery

The Spartan swim team welcomed Carbon, Judge Memorial, and Summit Academy to Castle Dale for “Senior Night”, but Emery still had work to do. Both the boys and girls ended with top finishes at the meet, the last one open to the public until the Regional Meet in Richfield on January 26.

The boys blew everyone out of the water quite literally, scoring 722.5 and taking first place. Juan Diego came in a distant second scoring 584 and Carbon was third with 445.5.

Three Spartans had third place finishes adding to the point total, Jacob Fauver in the 100 free, Adam Olsen in the 100 backstroke, and Trek Petersen in the 100 breaststroke.

Emery also earned a top finish in the 400 relay turning in a time of 3:49.77 with the team of Bryant Durrant, Tyler Frandsen, Alex Fredrick, and Fauver.

They also claimed a second place finish in the 200 free relay with the team of Durrant, Fauver, Frandsen, and Kade Larsen.

In the 200 medley relay, Larsen and teammates Alex Fredrick, Parker Jensen, and Will Stilson took third place.

For the girls, Emery took the top spot with 715 followed by Carbon at 498. Juan Diego and Summit Academy rounded out the field.

Sydney Carter earned a couple of top finishes in the 50 free with a time of 27.67, and 100 free turning in a time of 1:01.44. Melody Lake earned first place in the 200 free in 2:15.86, and second in the 100 breaststroke. Aubrey Guymon earned the top spot in the backstroke in 1:08.45 and second in the 100 fly.

Other top finishers for the Lady Spartans were Illyria Mason with a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, Carley Young took third in the 100 breaststroke and Aspen Jensen claimed third in the 100 backstroke. Rileigh Meccariello earned third in the 100 free.

Emery had a great showing with their relays as well earning first in both the 200 free and medley relays.

In the 200 free the team of Abby Morris, Lake, Guymon, and Carter, turned in a time of 1:51.92.  In the 200 medley, it was Carter, Jensen, Guymon, and Lake with a time of 2:07.22.

In the 400 relay Claire Lindsey, Purity Mason, Meccariello, and Morris with a third place finish.

January 13-14, 2023 Cedar January Invitational

The Emery Spartan swim teams were on the road once again this time in Cedar City for the Cedar Invitational. This is the second of the year as Cedar City also hosts an invitational in late November as well. For the Lady Spartans it was a fourth place finish with a score of 209 points, the boys earned an eighth place with 146.

The swim season is slowly coming to a close with just one more meet in the regular season, the Last Chance Invitational in Castle Dale this weekend on January 21, but spectators will not be allowed in attendance.

Copper Hills earned the top spot on the girls side of the pool with 358 points, host Cedar City came in second with 287. Carbon, Emery, and Millard rounded out the top five.

Melody Lake had a weekend for the Spartans, with two first place finishes. In the 500 free, she turned in a time of 6:00.67 and another first place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke with a time of 1:13.64. Aubrey Guymon claimed a first place finish in the 100 fly with her time of 1:05.45, and a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke. Carley Young swam to a fifth place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke, Sydney Carter took seventh in the 50 free.

In relays, the team of Guymon, Lake, Purity Mason and Abby Morris finished in third in the 200 free relay. In the 400 free relay, Rileigh Meccariello, Morris, Guymon and Lake took fourth.  Illyria Mason, Ashlyn Durrant, Aspen Jensen and Young made up the team for the Lady Spartans taking eighth in the 200 medley relay.

Host school Cedar City earned first place for the boys with a total of 404 points, Canyon View was in second with 304. Uintah, Carbon and Grand made up the remainder of the top five. Emery landed in the eight spot.

Parker Jensen was one of the top finishers for the Spartans with a fourth place in the 100 yard breaststroke, Kade Larsen swam to an eighth place finish in the race as well. Larsen also finished in ninth in the 200 free.

Tyler Frandsen would finish the 100 yard backstroke in sixth place and Alex Fredrick ended the 500 free in seventh.

The 400 relay team of Bryant Durrant, Frandsen, Fredrick, and Larsen swam to a sixth place finish.  Frandsen, Fredrick, Jensen and Wade Stilson earned a sixth place as well, in the 200 medley relay.

Chase Huggard, Durrant, Stilson and Larsen earned a ninth place in the 200 free relay.

January 21, 2023 Emery Last Chance Invitational

The final meet of the regular season took place over the weekend for the Emery swim team with the Last Chance Invitational at the aquatic center in Castle Dale. The Spartan swim team fared very well with the boys team grabbing first place and the girls team getting a second place finish.

There are now just a pair of meets left in the season starting with the Regionals on Thursday and then the State Championships coming up on February 10-11.

For the boys Emery snagged the top spot with a score of 389.5, which was 20 points ahead of second place Carbon. Richfield, Grand, South Sevier and Gunnison made up the rest of the field.

The Emery boys made the most of relays, as they have done for the majority of the season. In the 200 free relay the team of Bryant Durrant, Tyler Frandsen, Alex Fredrick and Kade Larsen swam their way to a second place finish. In the 400 relay, Chase Huggard , Adam Olsen, Durrant and Frandsen earned another second place spot. And in the 200 medley Parker Jensen was joined by team mates Fredrick, Larsen and Olsen for a third place finish.

Individuals earning top spots were Frandsen who claimed a third place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke, and Larsen earning third in the 100 free.

For the girls it was Carbon in first with a score of  417. Emery took the second spot with 409.5. Richfield, Grand, Gunnison and South Sevier rounded out the rest of the field.

Emery had two swimmers grabbing the top spot in their races. First up, Melody Lake took first place in the 200 yard individual medley, turning in a time of 2:36.72, Lake also earned third in the 100 free, and in the 100 yard breast stroke Carley Young and her time of 1:22.84 claimed top honors. Sydney Carter also earned a second place finish in the 50 free.

In the 200 free relay Carter, Lake, Abby Morris and Purity Mason finished in first with their time of 1:57.51,  and the team of Carter, Lake, Young and Illyria Mason finished the 200 Medley relay in third.

January 26, 2023 Region 12 Championships @ Richfield

The Spartan swim team along with the rest of Region 12 were in Richfield on Thursday to compete in the Region Championships. Both teams for the Spartans the boys and girls finished in third place.

Canyon View was the big winner on the boy’s side of the pool compiling 513 points far ahead of second place that belonged to Richfield with 323. Emery, Carbon, and Grand followed to round out the top five.

Jacob Fauver had two third-place finishes in both the 50 free and 100 free. Tyler Frandsen had a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and a fifth place in the 200 IM, and Kade Larsen swam to a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In relays, the team of Bryant Durrant, Larsen, Fauver, and Frandsen earned a second-place finish in the 200-free relay, while Will Stilson was joined by Larsen, Parker Jensen, and Alex Fredrick for fourth place in the 400-free relay.

Carbon finished the day in the top spot of the girl’s side of the pool with 463 points Canyon View was just behind with 424 in second. Emery, Richfield, and Grand made the rest of the top five.

Melody Lake brought home two first-place finishes in the 200 IM turning in a time of 2:30.25, and then again in the 500 free with a time of 5:59.04.  Carley Young brought home first place in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ashley Guymon turned in two-second place spots in the 100 fly and the 100 backstroke. Sydney Carter earned a fourth-place finish in the 50 free and fifth place in the 100 free, and Riliegh Meccariello took fourth place in the 200 free.

Emery captured two first-place finishes in the 200 medley and 400 free. In the 200, Carter, Guymon, Lake, and Aspen Jensen turned in a first-place time of 2:03.37, and in the 400, Carter, Lake, Guymon, and Abby Morris claimed the top spot with a time of 4:05.84.  The Lady Spartan team of Jessie Childs, Purity Mason, Morris, and Meccariello swam their way to a fifth-place finish on the 200-free relay.

February 2, 2023 Updated Region 12 Championship Scoring Changes

There was an adjustment made to the final scoring for the Region 12 swimming championships held in Richfield on January 26, and while the top spots on both the boys and the girls sides didn’t change, there were shake ups in the rest of the places that had implications for the Carbon boys and both Emery squads.

On the boys side Canyon View was still in first place, but the new points totals have jumped Carbon from fourth place to a second place finish. Richfield went from second to third which, in turn dropped Emery from third place to fourth. Grand stayed in fifth.

On the girls side of the pool, Carbon remained in first place but with the new score calculations, Emery moved from third to second place with Canyon View sliding to third. Richfield and Grand both stayed in fourth and fifth.

February 10-11, 2023 3A State Championships

The Emery swim teams traveled to Provo to the Richards Building pool at Brigham Young University over the weekend for the swimming State Championships. Girls teams from 26 schools and boys teams from 20 took to the pool to decide who was the best in 3A. The Emery girls had a fifth place finish while the boys ended the weekend in the 12 position.

On the boys side of the pool it was Judge Memorial earning the first place finish with 392.5 points. Canyon View took second with 242. Juan Diego, Ogden, and Union made up the top five. Emery scored 64 landing in the 12th spot.

Judge Memorial earned the top spot on the girls side as well scoring 234 points, and Juan Diego took second scoring 226. Carbon, Ogden and Emery who scored 154 points rounded out the top five.

The Emery Lady Spartans earned five third place state finishes. Senior Aubrey Guymon took a pair of those finishes individually in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.38, and again in the 100 fly, ending in a time of 1:03.53. Junior Melody Lake took third in the 500 free with her time of 5:55.19

Two of the Lady Spartans relay teams finished in third place as well. The 200 medley team of senior Aspen Jensen, senior Sydney Carter, Lake and Guymon had a time of 2:02.44. In the 400 free, senior Rileigh Meccariello, Junior Abby Morris along with Carter and Guymon crossed the finish line in 4:02.80.

For eight Spartans this will be their final State Championships. Ashlyn Durrant, along with Jensen, Guymon, Carter, and Meccariello for the girls and Bryant Durrant, Jacob Fauver and Alex Fredrick are all part of the class of 2023.
