
Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Roger Bruce Metzger, age 79, passed away peacefully March 7, 2023 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born October 25, 1943 in Palmerton, PA., to Lester and Ethel Fisher Metzger.
Married Ruth Kenna on January 22, 1965 in Downey, CA.
Roger enjoyed varmint hunting and combat pistol shooting in the Southwest Combat Pistol League. He played guitar in several Blue Grass bands including his own band for over 10 years. He was an avid worm farmer. During his working years Roger was a police officer for Los Alamitos Police Department, worked in campus security for over 15 years in So. California at 3 different colleges. He was a foreman at Claremont College Machine Shop prior to moving to Helper and opening his own machine shop. Roger loved restoring classic cars and was the organizer of the Helper Arts Festival Car Show and burn out from 2010 thru 2018. He was the 2001 President of the Helper Main Street Committee and was an active member and XNGH of Matt Warner Chapter ECV 1900 for over 30 years and many other local civic projects.
Survived by his loving wife, Ruth Metzger, Helper; sons, Ron (Jeni) Metzger, Fruita, CO., Mike (Jana) Metzger, Ormond, FL.; grandchildren, Ronny (Lisa) Metzger, Sicily, Italy, Courtney Metzger, Livingston, MT., Nathinel (Meagan) Metzger, Helper, Utah Mikayla (Dane) Nieshe, Mt. Shasta, CA., Kaylie Metzger, Provo, Utah; and 4 great grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be March 25, 2023, 3:00-6:00 p.m., Clamper Hall (262 South Main) in Helper. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Matt Warner #1900 Building Fund.
