USU Eastern is winding down with Spring Semester and looking forward to encouraging potential students to get signed up for courses for the upcoming Summer or Fall Semesters. Director of Students, Kevin Hurst stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details with listeners.
USU Eastern has the Utah State Promise program that assists potential students financially. “The Utah State Promise is for anybody who completes their free application for Federal Student Aid. We love to use acronyms that’s called FAFSA, but anybody who completes their FAFSA and is Pell Grant Eligible, Utah State will pay the remaining balance of their tuition and student body fees. So if you haven’t attended college at Utah State and you start this summer, so summer of 2023 or fall of 2023 and you meet those eligibility criteria that I laid out, then this works for you,” explained Hurst. The Utah State Promise program is open to incoming Freshman and to be eligible for the program you must be a Utah resident, qualified for FAFSA, and take 12 credit hours.
Although this is not part of the Utah State Promise program, USU Eastern is helping potential students get their admission fee waived. “Currently are application to apply to attend is $50.00 but we’re more than happy to waive that application fee, more than happy to do that for anybody who is applying to attend at USU Eastern. You would connect with our admission specialist, they have what we call a fee waiver or an application fee waiver, they’ll give you that code, you enter that code when you apply, and we’ll waive that application fee for you,” stated Hurst. The institution is really trying hard to make it easy for potential students to enroll in college classes.
Currently USU Eastern is accepting Leadership Applications to be a part of the campus Student Government Association. “So we have six student leadership positions, they’re scholarship eligible and we do one application, you can interview through that one application for any of the positions that are of interest. It is an interview process and to be invited to the interview there is an application process and so you need to apply by March 10 and that information is on our website,” said Hurst. You can learn more about the student leadership opportunities by visiting USU Eastern website at https://eastern.usu.edu/
Hurst finished up by sharing details about 2022-2023 commencement ceremony, “Just want to put a save the date out there or a level of awareness, our commencement is Saturday, April 29, its starts at 10:00 am. Obviously, we are honoring our graduates and they’ll have guests that they can invite, but its open to anybody that would like to attend. Doors open at 9:00 am, its there at our BDAC.”
