One constant this season for the Green River Lady Pirates was center Abigail Erwin. On Wednesday, the Deseret News published their list that is voted on by coaches from around the state of the best players in each classification, and Erwin earned a second team mention.

The Lady Pirates finished the 2022-2023 campaign with an overall record of 9-18 which included a 4-4 Region 23 mark. They also held the No. 15 spot in the final RPI rankings of the season. After losing to Wendover in the second round of the 1A State Championships and falling into the consolation bracket they would fall to Bryce Valley to end their season.

Erwin, a senior, was dominant this season when it came to putting points on the score board, and was given her second team spot after averaging 26.2 ppg this season. Her highest scoring out put this season came February 2 at Monticello when she scored 45, just 11 points off the state record of 56, set by Judge Memorial’s Teya Sidberry in January of 2022.

This is not Erwin’s first All-State recognition, she also received an Honorable Mention in 2020-2021, her sophomore season.
