The city is eagerly preparing for some upcoming Spring time activities like the Easter celebration, Arbor Day festivities and annual city cleanup. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Mayor Adele Justice to get all the details.

Ferron City, along with the Ferron City Youth Council are hosting their annual Easter Celebration on Saturday, April 1. “We are going to have our Easter Celebration on April 1 at 12:30 pm at the Mayor’s Park. Our Youth Council has planned some fun activities like sidewalk painting, cup cake walk, egg races – fun games for the kids. There’s also going to be the Easter Bunny there to hand out treats and they’ll also serve lunch. So it will be a great time for families just to come out, and take a few minutes to celebrate Easter with us,” said Mayor Justice. This event is open to all families and children in the Ferron area.

The city has been celebrating Arbor Day for over 20 years so the next big event the city will be hosting is Arbor Day activities on Saturday, April 15. “So this year we’re going to have our celebration on the 15th of April, we’ll meet at the fairgrounds at 9:00 am and we’ll replace a few trees in the fairgrounds park, that need to be replaced. We’ll also go up to the cemetery and then we’ll have a clean-up day at the golf course in conjunction with our Arbor Day. We love trees in Ferron and we love learning how to plant and take care of those trees and get them to grow. It’s just a great time for families to come out and learn about trees, learn about how to prune them, and take care of them, and plant them, it’s always a fun event,” stated Mayor Justice. The city is also hosting an Arbor Day Poster Contest entitled “Living with Trees.” Families who would like to participate in the contest can get the rules and entry forms at City Hall, all contest entries are due on Thursday, April 6.

The city will be hosting its Annual City Clean-up during the month of April and as usual dumpsters will be provided. “So we traditionally have large roll-off dumpsters placed in certain areas throughout the city. If you live in Ferron or have lived here a while you’ll know where those are because traditionally there in the same spots every year. But we’ll have dumpsters and we encourage our citizens to just use those dumpsters and get their yards cleaned up from the winter months and help us get the city looking like it should be,” said Mayor Justice. If citizens are not sure where to locate a dumpster they are urged to contact City Hall for further explanation.
