Carbon track and field traveled to Vernal on April 1 to take part in the Uintah Invitational. With 11 teams competing on the boy’s side and 12 on the girl’s the Lady Dinos were able to secure a second place finish while the boy’s would finish the day in fourth.

The host school Uintah grabbed the top spot for the girls with 159.333 points, Carbon posted 110 to take second. Lyman, WY, Union and Green River, WY rounded out the top five.

Distance running was where the Lady Dinos would score big, with Rozlyn Stowe earning a first place finish in the 1600 meters turning in a time of 5:16.14, Sophia Taylor finished in third and Lindsie Fausett and Ambree Jones went fifth and sixth respectively. Stowe would go on to finish second in the 3200 with Fausett and Jones going four and five. In the 800 Taylor earnd a second place finish for Carbon.

Kinlee Lewis had a few top individual performances as well taking a third place finish in the 100 hurdles, she also earned a third place finish in the 300 hurdles and had a second place finish in the high jump. Other top finishes went to Gianna White with a third place in the 400, Emma Bowman was right behind in fourth. In field events Jordan Shorts claimed fifth in the long jump and Anna Hanson was fourth in the javelin.

The Lady Dinos also had a pair of top five finishes in relays, as the team of  Lewis, White, Shorts and Bailey Johnson took third in the 4×100 and Josie Jespersen, Allie Smith, Emma Parker and Kenedee Gunter took third in the 4×200.

Uintah was the top school on the boy’s side as well finishing with 129.5, Union landed in second with 128.5. Green River, WY, Carbon and Big Piney made up the rest of the top five.

In individual events Easton Humes claimed a pair of first place finishes in the 400 with a time of 51.76, and the 800 at 2:10.77. Braxton Ware finished in fourth in the 1600 and Bradley Wood claimed fifth in the shot put.

The Carbon boys grabbed three top five finishes in relays with the team of Justus Clark, Jaxson Jewkes, Ethan Prettyman and Hector Villalba earning third in the 4×200.  Ware and Humes were joined by team mates Eric Holt and Mason Vasquez for a fourth place finish in the sprint medley and then in the 4×100 Holt and Vasquez along with fellow Dinos Traxton Jewkes and Logan Palmer came in fifth.

The Dinos are off now until April 14, when its back to the basin, this time for the Union Invitational in Roosevelt.
