Ralyn Nielsen Carter, age 70, passed away on April 7, 2023 in Mississippi after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born September 25, 1952 in Salina, Utah to Helen Mae and Morris J Nielsen. Ralyn married the love of her life Dennis Carter on February 25, 1989 in Price, Utah. The two were often seen riding motorcycles together. They had one child together, Nikki Lyn Kulovitz.
Ralyn always had an adventurous spirit. At the age of 16, she left her small town and moved to California for 12 years. She loved her time in California and spoke of it often. When she returned to Utah, she worked in a few occupations that were not traditional for women particularly at that time. She worked as a coal miner and later as a security guard at the Hunter powerplant. She concluded her time working at Walmart for 15 years.
Ralyn was an artist – she could create beautiful crafts using almost any medium. She was rarely seen without a skein of yarn and a crochet hook or knitting needles in her busy hands. She was well known for her quilt making. She was always very generous with sharing her talents with family and friends; those items will be cherished alongside their memories of Ralyn’s kind spirit.
Ralyn was so proud of her daughter and they had many shared adventures. Nikki was the light of her life and she loved her unconditionally. She was so happy when Nikki married Will and she was overjoyed when she got to be a Grandma. She loved Abby from the minute she was born and you could always count on her to share stories and pictures about her beautiful and precious Granddaughter.
Ralyn lived in Price, Utah for 28 years. After Dennis passed, she moved to Cedar City, Utah to be closer to Nikki. She subsequently moved to South Carolina with Nikki and Will when she got her cancer diagnosis. In December of 2022 the family moved again to Tupelo Mississippi.
She is survived by her daughter, Nikki (William) Kulovitz, Tupelo, Mississippi; granddaughter; Abigail Kulovitz, Tupelo, Mississippi; brother, Wayde Nielsen, Lawrence, Utah; brothers-in-law, Don (Jerrie) Carter, Provo, Utah, Dave (Diana) Carter, Provo, Utah; sisters-in-law, Sherry (Lynn) Jolley, Hurricane, Utah, May Roberts, Cedar City, Utah. She also has many nieces and nephews that will miss her very much.
