Trailing the Emery Spartans by one game in the loss column, the Dinos were faced with a near must win situation. Trailing 1-0 at the end of the first half, Carbon roared back by scoring three goals in the second half to grab the monumental win.
Sam Dart, Tyler Morris, and Boyd Bradford all scored one goal to lift the Dinos. The win marks the second over Richfield in as many games, giving the Dinos a season series sweep.
Tuesday’s win pushes Carbon to 5-1 in region-12 play, trailing Emery who is a perfect 5-0. The two teams are set to meet Thursday at Carbon for the second and final time this regular season.
The first meeting with Emery ended in thrilling fashion as the two teams were forced to go to penalty kicks after ending regulation and the first two overtimes tied 1-1. The Spartans then grabbed the victory after six penalty kicks.
Carbon will enter Thursday’s highly important tilt with a 5-2 record overall and ranked No. 4 in the RPI. Emery is right behind at 5-3 and ranked No. 6.
