The 23rd Annual Cabin Fever Poker Ride will take place on Saturday, April 29 with registration taking place from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Event Representative, Jerace Glover to discuss all the details.

This annual event is put on by the Castle Country OHV Association who does more than just hosts rides, they help maintain trails throughout the area. “The main goal, in the end, is to create a community for the off-road community, where we focus and help with different trails and maintenance. We’re also active with other clubs, you know, throughout the state of Utah trying to build a greater voice to help fight against trail closures and everything that way, part of Blue-Ribbon Coalition and all that as well,” stated Glover. Castle Country OHV Association host two big fundraisers a year to help fund their non-profit organization and this Poker Ride is one of those fundraisers.

Individuals can bring their ATV, UTV or motorcycle out for this great family event. “The easiest way to get out there is head towards Castle Dale, and just north of Castle Dale there is the Green River cut-off road, basically the main access road out to the Swell. You follow it 22 miles out to some corrals out there where we’ll stage out of. The ride will start there and it also ends there,” explained Glover. The ride will take you along some great trails and overlooks on the San Rafael Swell. It’s important to know that this is a no-alcohol ride event. There will be checkpoints along the trails for anyone who may need assistance.

The cost to participate is very affordable. “Basically it’s $10.00 for your first poker hand. Any additional poker hands are $5.00 after that and you can buy as many as you want. You can buy one, and you can come ride, but really the only fee is to buy a poker card for $10.00. You know if you have four people in a machine or whatever, everybody can buy a poker card in the machine, its not limited to a machine, so whoever wants. But $10.00 for your first card and $5.00 additional,” said Glover. All proceeds made during the event will help the Castle Country OHV Association, with a portion of proceeds going to a club member, Steve Crouse, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer.
