The MECCA Mountain Bike Club is hosting their 37th Annual Bike the Swell Lamar Guymon Memorial Mountain Bike Festival on Apr. 28 through Apr. 30. Event Representative, Terri Bennett took time to come into the Castle Country Radio to share all the details with listeners.

The festival will be based out of the Buckhorn RV Park and Resort in Huntington and will kick off on Friday. “We start Friday off in the afternoon at 1:00 pm with registration and start gathering everyone. At 3:00 pm we have a very nice evening warmup ride where we will leave the park and ride out around Huntington North Reservoir and back. Then we meet up again that evening for a little social event, that is where we have our prize drawings where we give away a couple of bikes and a lot more swag,” said Bennett. The early registration expired on April 15 so the cost to participate is now $90.00 and there is no guarantee you will receive an event t-shirt or swag bag.

It’s not too late to make a reservation at Buckhorn RV Park and Resort to be closer to the festivities. “That would be the easiest and the most convenient. You could just walk right from your RV to the pavilion where we’re hosting the site. That was the whole thought behind having the Buckhorn RV Park and Resort host our festival,” said Bennett. The resort has cabins, tent sites, RV full hook-up spots, and tipis.

On Saturday registration will continue from 8:00 am to 9:30 am before the ride begins. “We start our official ride on Saturday. We start the day off with breakfast. We will disperse to beginner, intermediate, and advanced rides for that day. Then we meet back up at the park at 5:00 pm for a nice dinner catered by Ponderosa Grill,” said Bennett. There will be an opportunity to enjoy some games after dinner like corn hole, lawn games and bike bingo.

Then on Sunday participants can enjoy another breakfast from Ponderosa Grill and will have a chance to choose where they would like to go biking. “We give participants an idea of where they can go ride throughout that Swell or if they are headed home we encourage them to stop at Woodhill Trails in Price. We’re just there to mostly answer their questions on Sunday morning but we won’t’ be guiding rides on Sunday,” said Bennett.
