Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Lee Mont Swasey, 72, passed away April 14, 2023 at Castleview Hospital in Price.

He was born October 19, 1950 in Price, Utah to Monte Clair and Donna Larene Behling Swasey.  On November 11, 1972, he married Margaret Fugate in Ferron, Utah; they later divorced.

Lee was a lifelong resident of Emery County whose life revolved around the history, spirituality and beauty of the San Rafael Swell.  He had an extensive mapping system of the exact locations of all the petroglyphs on the entire desert.  Lee knew the desert better than anyone and he always left it in better shape than he found it.  Lee was a fun loving and adventurous individual who loved to explore the outdoors.  He was quick-witted and always loved a good joke.

Lee had an extensive and enjoyable career with Johansen & Tuttle Engineering.  Everywhere he went, Lee left his mark or a 1960’s penny to show that he had been there.  Lee knew the area, like the back of his hand and he leaves behind his footprints that will be explored for generations.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph (Jessica) Swasey, Ferron, Charles (Vicki) Swasey, Enoch; sisters, Elayne (Jed) Cottingham, Arvada, CO, Cindy (Jon) Judd, Castle Dale; grandchildren, Dylan, Helen, Lennon and one more granddaughter on the way.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Don Clair Swasey.

Graveside services will be held, Thursday, April 20, 2023, 12:00 noon at the Ferron City Cemetery.  The family encourages friends to join them at the cemetery at 11:30 for a visitation and viewing.  Because of Lee’s great love for the outdoors, it is fitting that his services be held outdoors and that the those attending dress casual.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
