Sherri May Sadleir Salazar, our sweet mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Sherri was born February 23, 1951 in Salt Lake City to Earl and Vera Smith Sadleir, she was their third daughter. They later divorced and Sherri gained a second dad, Melvin Knapton. She grew up in Murray, Utah having adventures with her brothers and sisters. She graduated Murray High School.

Sherri married Charlie Salazar on July 28, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had four children and celebrated almost 47yrs of marriage before his passing.

Sherri was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a Girl Scout troop leader, a class mom, helped the kids with homework, supported her children and grandchildren in all their interests and activities. She enjoyed participating in volleyball, basketball and softball. She was an avid swimmer and a lifeguard. In recent years she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Nieces and nephews were treated as her own children.

Sherri gained a love of camping from her parents, Vera and Mel. Along with Charlie, she shared the enjoyment of camping with her own children. Many wonderful memories were made each summer in Big Cottonwood Canyon and the High Uintah Mountains.

Sherri was a talented seamstress, notably sewing her daughter Malysa’s wedding dress, clothing for her kids when they were young, and even learning how to sew leather. She made earrings out of beads and porcupine quills. She knew how to needlepoint and cross-stitch. She made many beautiful knit and crochet projects. Over the years she lovingly crocheted dozens of Christmas stockings for her immediate family and her siblings families.

Survivors include her three daughters and one son, Marisha Salazar, Murray, Sherri May Salazar, Price, John M. (Sherry) Salazar, Price, Malysa (Shawn) Behunin, Helper; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Blaze, Shy (Stephen), Lexy (Eduardo), Ashlyn, Nathan, Braxton and Wynter; one great-grandson Sebastián; her siblings Pat Bott, Mary Applegate, Garry (Joyce) Knapton, Karen (Ken) Fritz, Janna Knapton, Johnathon (Christie) Knapton and Becky (Jeff) Scholes; brother-in-law Robert (Phillis) Salazar and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charlie, all three of her parents Earl Sadleir, Vera and Mel Knapton, her in-laws John and Elsie Salazar, sister, Susan Sadleir; brother, Robert Knapton; and a brother-in-law, Dave Bott.

The family is grateful to the care bestowed upon Sherri during her final days by Rocky Mountain Home Care and Hospice, especially Debbie and Angela.

Honoring Sherri’s wishes, no services will be held. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome to share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
