Emery track and field continued through the season as they traveled to Richfield High School for the Nyle Norris Invitational. With over 20 schools in attendance, the competition was tough with the Lady Spartans finishing in eighth and the boys landing in the 13th spot.

The track and field season is winding down with just three meets left in the regular season before region in Cedar City.

On the girl’s side it was North Summit finishing in first with 136.5 points, North Sanpete came in second with 84. Millard, Richfield and Grand made up the rest of the top five, with Emery taking the No. 8 spot.

Addie Hurst had a great day in the distance runs claiming second place in the 1600 with a time of 5:41.23 just off the pace of 5:40.24 set by Chayden Sargent of North Summit. Hurst would go on to finish in seventh in the 800. Carlie Hurst claimed a ninth place finish in the 300 hurdles and the Lady Spartan team also earned a sixth place in the 4 x 400 relay.

In field events it was Megan Stilson earning a second place finish in the high jump and an eighth place in the long jump. Alexis McArthur ended her day in eighth place in the shot put.

For the boys it was host team Richfield taking the top spot with 114 points, North Summit earned second with 62. Millard, Wasatch Academy and Grand rounded out the top five, Emery finished in 13th.

Camdon Larsen earned a fourth place finish in the 1600, Jack Christiansen came in fifth and Dillan Larsen seventh. Champ Justice earned a seventh place finish in the 3200. Owen Cordner claimed an eighth place finish in the 400 and Christiansen and Camdon Larsen would finish fifth and ninth respectively in the 800

Up next for the Spartans is a trip to Price on Friday for the Eastern Utah Invitational.
